I have a fun assignment for you all. Take either your phone or camara with you and take a walk for about an hour (or more if you wish). As you walk without any concrete direction take pictures of whatever spontaniously interests you. When you walk and you feel you should go left, go left. If you feel you should go right, go right. Dont worry about where you end up. Do not think about if it will be a good or bad picture. Take pictures without thoughts of like or dislike. Just snap purely based on the instantanious impulse you have. Do not take too much time or effort to take a photo and dont do any after editing. Let go of all pre-conceived notions of what a photograph is or should be. Do not think about the picture you just took. Do not think about the next picture you will be taking. Do not fear you will make a bad picture. Do not hope you will make a good picture. Do not be distracted by the contents of the photo, yet be aware of those contents.

Polaroid Camera of choice? (gift)

8 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
/p/, I'm thinking about buying my girlfriend a polaroid camera for her birthday this year, she's turning 20 and is quite into photography. We've talked about polaroids in the past and she seems quite fond of getting one in the future, thought I should go ahead and do it. After a bit of searching around I found a a few that seem like good candidates. Right now however I can't seem to pick between Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 and some sort of older Polaroid camera (like the Polaroid Sun 660 AutoFocus?) What should I get her? What do you have? Isi trying to argue that grey cards don't give accurate WB

Just thought I'd share some of her wisdom. For context, she's arguing that a shot on an overcast day, balanced with a grey card has an incorrect WB. [EXIF data available. 10 Iconic Street Photos

5 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
http://streetbounty.com/2017/01/20/10-iconic-street-photos/ I find myself explaining a lot what Street Photography actually means and which kind of photos I try to take. There seem to be a lot of prejudices towards the term “Street Photography” on its own. Most of the time when I describe myself as a photographer on the street I get responses like “and which building is your favorite” followed by questions about my gear. Little do they know, that popular Street Photographs are part of our culture and survived many decades. Some even made it in our history books – declared as “Press Photos” – for their informative value. Street Photography is part of our culture and below are just 10 of the most iconic Street Photos that are classic witnesses of their respective time, but nonetheless relevant and enjoyed today. 1Vivian Maier One of the most famous nannies in the world photographs a boy feeding pigeons in 1950s Chicago. Armed with her double lense Rolleiflex she wandered through the streets of Chicago capturing the raw emotions of others. Described as a loner she was able to record the unique scenes and feelings of the Chicago citizen. 2William Klein The New York Street Photographer William Klein manages to capture one of the strongest facial expressions known in photographs. Standing next to him is a boy looking almost unimpressive, forming a great contrast with the very malicious looking boy with a gun. William Klein used a 35mm Lense and although the Vogue magazine declined to print this picture, it still made his way into the history books of Street Photography.

My A7R broke and now I'm left with the insurance money to get myself a new one. This would be a perfect opportunity to ditch Sony. Redpill me on changing system.

Post-Processing JPEGs

5 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I have a bunch of mediocre snapshits in DNG format that I want to back up to my Google Photos account as JPEGs, and then delete from my hard drive to free up a couple TB of disk space. Is there an optimal way to batch process these pics before exporting them to JPEG, so that in the unlikely event that I'll need to dig one up later for post processing, I'd be able to do so with minimal further degradation to image quality? Would it be a bad idea to just apply Auto WB and Auto Tone to every photo in LR prior to exporting as JPEG?
