I was cleaning out an old desk at work the other day and came upon some old catalogs circa 1975. The following is a few samples from those catalogs.

I currently have a fuji x10 and would like to trade it for something a bit more compact (pocket-able) as I will be getting an x-e1 soon and want something for an EDC. I have a budget of £300 so I was thinking the fuji xf1 as I will know the camera quite well after using the x10. Are there any other compacts I should be looking at? tl;dr which £300 pocket-friendly compact.

mfw it suggests that gimp ass camera is a better buy that the D800... Also has anyone held the d600? it feels so shitty, i was at costco and they had them on display. At that price it should be much bigger and solid. Is the 6d like that too?

Filters: multi-coated, single-coated, glass etc.

>Filter experience needed Okay. So I'm looking to buy some filters; circular polarizers and protection (expensive lenses). Amongst other things, I need a 77mm circular polarizer, and as you know, those are expensive with multi-coating. I've been trying to figure out whether a multi-coating is actually worth it. I don't have the filters to do the testing myself. How big of a deal is it? I use lens hoods. >Also Are there any negative IQ effects of using step-ups and big filters on a small lens?

>a client wants an archive CD of a funeral service, i shot this past week. They already ordered the photo prints + CD archive. i know they're going to their local Walmart and will try to reprint these so what do? is there a way for them to only view the photos on the their computer and not let them copy the images on their harddrives? Whats /p/ thought on this. Buy Canon 1D-MarkII or a Canon T2i? I want to upgrade from my T1i to something different. I think the 1DmarkII is good deal and would be a better investment than the T2i. These really are my only two choices.

London meetup tragedy

>So yesterday was probably the worst day of my entire life. >Met up with troll tan/Annie. >Ok so we arranged to meet at The Photographers Gallery, same place we all met at the London meet. >On the way there I get lost (beta as fuck) so I'm a bit late. >Ten minutes late I show up panting and awkward. She is sitting by the window, oblivious to me. >Her orange hair is blazing in the light, Annie I don't give a shit if you're reading this you looked beautiful. I manage to stammer a hello. >Coffee and cake are ordered, eaten and we're ready to go. >Really don't have a clue what the plan is all I know is I want to spend time with the queen of /p/ with whom I am suddenly and inexplicably in love. >I try to swallow my beta feelings and we decide to walk around Hyde park and then St James's. >My confidence grows when she asks if I want to hit a restaurant or something for dinner. >In the end we decide to be cheap and go to that shit Burger King in Leicester Square. I am disappoint. >Night has come and the usually heaving Burger King is unusually quiet. whatever we order our food and sit down upstairs away from the few dregs and scum who are hanging around outside. >As Time passes downstairs goes silent. After a few minutes we notice and stop talking and listen. We hear someone's footsteps coming up the stairs. A well dressed and official looking chap strides up and he tells us that we need to leave the restaurant, they're closing. I don't like the guy. His breath stinks. >Like the beta I am I mumble an ok and hurriedly gather my things, get up and start to walk away without even waiting for Annie. That's when I hear a dull thud and Annie start to cry out but it's cut short. I turn around and this horrible man is stood over troll tan who is motionless on the floor. I don't know how long I stood there for, frozen, seconds or minutes. Eventually I'm beside her. I start shaking her. "Annie are you ok?" >1st letter of each paragraph [EXIF data available. Hey everyone. I rarely post here so I apologize if this topic has been addressed before. I've decided to take some self-portraits and I'd like to know how to blend in the wall and the floor in my pictures. Does it require a studio or studio equipment or can it be done at home with clever technique and a bit of editing ? Pic related so you know what I'm talking about. Thank you. [EXIF data available.
