Does anyone on /p/ with a free domain feel like putting up a forum dedicated just to photography critique and discussion of photographic history/technique/theory? I'm sure it would be pretty simple to put together a simple vbulletin job or something. I promise I'll post on it, too. I already post on many different photography boards on the internet but /p/ does have a distinct atmosphere and dynamic going on. It's just a huge drag going through all the gear and off-topic threads. This way at least there would be a place for critique with /p/-levels of harshness, and spamming/off topic wouldn't be an issue. [EXIF data available. Hey /p/, Quick question. Looking for a variable neutral density filter for a 49mm thread. Any suggestions or personal experiences on which ones I should watch out for? Biggest fear is the filter is not actually neutral. Don't mind shelling out a few bucks for one, looking for something in the .6-.9 range. Thanks!

Found some boxes of this

sup /p/ i found several boxes of this shit in my college photolab, my teachers says that they have been there for a couple of years and dont know who bought them, so i can use them if i want. Question here is, i only have c41 process films like outdated superia 400 and brand new kodak gold 100 and i know that i can cross process that shit, but i dont have any idea how are going to be the final results and what kind of subjects should i expose in order to get decent results. Can anyone point some directions here?

film vs digital

So /p/, how many usable megapickles are there at best in a frame of 135-film? Since I am too poor for an ultrawide for my digital camera (micro four turds) I thought I might give film a try. I already own a fairly decent scanner (Plustek 7600i) and a Minolta XD7. For $100 I can acquire a Tokina 17mm which would give me DAT ultra wide angle for few monies. Will I be disappointed? I like to print big, and my GH1 gives me really crisp pictures. I have only shot Provia 100F, Superia 400 and Agfa APX100 yet and the results haven't really blown me away. What about finer grain slide or negative film like Velvia or Ektar? Will they scan more nicely? Here's a shitty picture shot on Superia 400, can you get much more detail from 35mm? I can post scanned Provia and APX100 as well if you like [EXIF data available. Could we get some generic head shot raws for retouching? I don't have a subject but want to work on my retouching. Maybe we could make some before and afters.
