What light setups do you often use? It would be good to get some diagrams with the results you get, doesn't need to be studio work. I'm trying to get into more studio work.

i have tried to find the best method for skin smoothing, and looking for one that is not too time consuming. found this one: >duplicate layer (all work will be done on this top layer) >gaussian blur (do no apply. just see what pixel radius looks smooth) >high pass (use the gaussian blur number) apply >surface blur (radius value 1/3 of the high pass number) >invert layer (command I) >blend mode: linear light >lower opacity to 15-40% >mask all layer with black >soft brush to paint in smooth skin (white) >watch edges, hair, eyes, etc. what do you think? I see it retains a lot of detail. this is to be done after removing blemishes with clone/healing brush, but I have found that this can be done afterwards since this method removed many blemishes. Hi there /p/ I have recently been given by my mother an old camera from the early 90's, I believe it takes 35mm film. It's a Pentax and has an abundance of lenses that can be fixed upon the front. What I'm trying to say is that it's not equipment for the general public, it's serious stuff. I have never really done serious photography however, and a vague knowledge of shutter speed and aperture is as far as I know about. How would I recreate the photo I have posted using a 35mm camera? I want that blurry background but the perfect and crisp faces with incredible definition and difference in tones. Thanks for your help guys

I'm a complete beginner in temporary possession of a Nikon D5000 that I have borrowed from college. I've been trying to take some indoor shots of some framed artwork on a shelf for a project but I'm failing miserably. The room setting has natural light but it is dim and the room has a low ceiling. I have no lighting or reflectors or anything like that, just the camera and a really shit tripod. I have been trying my best to get some decent shots and have played around a lot with ISO and aperture as recommended but my shots are always noisy and dull. I have Photoshop which I am proficient at using and so I can clean my images up as best I can but the bottom line is that the photography is just....shit. I have to make do with the equipment I have (or lack thereof). Can anyone give me some tips for getting better quality indoor shots? They don't need to be super professional just bright and clean.

Anyone know of a way to bypass the internal AF motors on F mount lenses? I want my tamron 70-200 to use the internal AF motor on my F5 rather than it's own shitty motor. Any ideas?
