I think it's a decent assertion that experience in life (as well as photographic studies) affect your ability to produce meaningful work. But I'm wondering if anyone feels differently. I mean, does age/experience have much to do with photographic ability, in your opinion? Does somebody exposed to a lot of drama/tension or otherwise somebody who lives a rough life have a higher chance of producing work than somebody who's 16, lived at home and never had to really experience the world outside their own bubble?

Hey /p/. I don't really come here often, but I'm getting into photography and I really like Meatyard and Witkin. I was wondering if there were any other photographers like them. Something that gives off that unnerving surrealism vibe, yet captures the beauty of the style. I don't really know what I'm looking for so just throw some stuff my way.

Hey there, /p/ros. My dad is a wedding photographer, and recently he's been trying to get me in on the family business. I don't really mind, since I really am interested in the whole photography business. Thing is, he's a bit of an old-fashioned mentor. He insists on me mastering the old film cameras first before moving on to DSLRs. I don't really mind doing it, but is there some sort of disadvantage to doing what he wants? Like, a habit that can form while using the film camera that doesn't really apply very well to the modern DSLRs? I'm doing my own research on it too, but some advice from you guys would be nice.

I need to find myself a cheap film scanner for the summer. My school has some Epson V750 which I can freely use, but I won't have access to it all summer. I even bought myself a whole development gear to rely on myself only, I just need a scanner. I don't have much money for the moment so it will only be a backup scanner until a buy a good one. Any ideas? I found some V350 for 30euros, but I have no idea what they're worth.

OP of 6x17 thread, I promised to update about my progress..well I fucked up big time, severly underxposed all the four shots. Had to turn it into crappy b&w to make it discernible. I guess I'll switch to 400cn and see if I'm any good at it. anyway thank you again for your previous help, can't remember your nick but you know who you are, cheers [EXIF data available.
