Hey guys, noob question here I am going into college in a few months for Journalism and the course requires an SLR camera. The most obvious choice is a Canon T3i and I know I can get one for around $500. But I have back problems and want to keep weight and the things I am carrying to a minimum. Would something like an Olympus E-PL5 offer similar performance and usability for pretty amateur tasks?

This is a shot in the dark, but, I recently just received SIGMA UC Zoom 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 lens, and I have a K-01 Pentax, and long story short, the AF isn't working. I have the lens "clicked" at the 'A' automatic mark. Then it was recognized by the camera itself. If anyone has any quick hints where I can look towards, that'd be awesome. Thanks in advance.

So, the more megapixel on the same size of sensor, the less area each pixel get for itself. If two equally large sensors with same level of technology get divided into different amount of megapixel, the one with less pixel will have larger surface area for each individual pixel. Therefore getting more light into each pixel, thus improve the image quality. >My question, shouldn't that mean lowering resolution actually improve image quality? >Apparently it is not, are there current technology that capable of trading resolution for quality or something? Ok, I'm the faggot who made that thread about a photography project a while ago, trying to do some 2edgy4me hipster bullshit. That ain't happening. I ned a concept, or idea that I can take pictures of, for a series of 12 photos, and I have to be done by thursday. Anyhow, any ideas are welcomed, and I will use this thread to post the pictures for advice/C&C. Thanks /p/als. Previous projects: >Gravity: photos of shit timed to look like they are floating around >Colors >Water >Fire Pic semi related, my first idea was to do long exposures. Didn't work out. I really don't understand all this fanboy fight over Canon or Nikon, just to see who has the best sensor. Why would someone fight over to see who has the best digital camera? Instead of figthing over to see who has the best FILM camera? Film is superior to digital. DSLR is dogshit, why would you fight over something infeior, second place? DSLR don't have DYNAMIC RANGE. digital dynamic range is shit!!!!! Film is much, much more superior. The only reason you think digital is superior, is because you don't know how to shoot pictures without the computer assistance from the camera. Even if the camera says it is manual mode. It is not really manual, you are relying on the camera's metering system and other sensors. Something you should read: http://120studio.com/dynamic-range.htm http://120studio.com/film-vs-digital.html [EXIF data available.
