Hey /p/ what is that little white noise on e-p5 when I hold down the shutter? E-pl3 sure didn't have one. It's like there is a broken radio station always running on the evf or something.

Short story: I've been wanting to get into photography for a couple of years now so, my dad just bought me a Nikon D3200 for my birthday a few days ago. I don't know anything about photography and, I've already read some of the sticky links but, a lot of it is terms I don't understand since I'm starting from the bottom with no photography experience. I know im going to be called a fag but. Can anyone give me a quick tips/summary on how to start taking decent pictures with the basic lens I have? TL;DR what basic guidelines should a new photographer always use when taking pics? [EXIF data available. It's not much, but I've got a job as an assistant filming on a porn shoot. All the details I have so far is it's going to be a series of Asian girls doing straight sex, anal and deep throating (honestly I have nfi why they bothered telling me the sex acts). We're filming in HD (HD scenes distributed online individually and cut together for BD and SD DVD) so visuals are important. AFAIK the main camera guy is going to be using a SONY camcorder of some description. The director said it is going to be "arty". I am going to be doing some secondary filming (Canon DSLR) as well as helping out with the lighting (I don't think I'll be required to come up with complex lighting rigs myself, just set them up) and doing stills shooting for the website. Just looking for a bit of advice/encouragement. I've lurked here for years, I don't think I'd have this job without the stuff /p/ has taught me. Pic related is one of the girls on the shoot. I just bought the Sony nex 3n. And with the cashback, it was a bargain. A sweet little piece of machinery. Got the kitlens 16-50. Should I go for some primes, or a pancake or tele? are there any websites that post good photographs every few days? Not users submitting it like 500px or deviantart, but where the staff or whatever picks a series or an author and posts it.. if you know what I mean. maybe similar to the butdoesitfloat website. And no, I'm not looking for beautiful landscapes or flowers, but rather artistic photography.

DIY DSLR

Sup /p/ In order to save on costs of my next dslr, I was thinking about buying all the parts to a dslr/broken dslrs and building it myself. I have a pretty strong electronics background and I think I can do it. OBV I would do it in a static-free/dust-free environment and use the proper tools (which I own). Anyone looked into this at all?

How's Nikon COOLPIX P7700? Or Olympus E-PM1? A coworker asked me for an opinion about these two cameras, she wants it for casual photography and I really don't know much about them, maybe some of you have used them.

Film questions

I'm a beginner, I haven't developed any rolls of film yet. I don't know how my shots look. What are some settings I can put my SLR to so that it almost always takes a clear picture where you can see what's going on? Does it matter what kind of scanner I get for my negatives? Looking for help on double exposing a roll, I plan on filling a roll of film with sunset shots at the beach, and then using the same roll again in the city. Considering the fact that I will be using 400 ISO film, should I double my ASA to 800 for both exposures? Just the first exposure? Using an Olympus XA btw
