Hey /p/. Ever since I was young I am always interested in the cosmos and the universe. I always wanted to take pictures of what I am seeing in the sky especially at night. Anyway, I currently have a Panasonic Lumix LX-5. I'm having a hard time taking pictures of the night sky since yeah I don't have a dSLR or a Micro Four thirds. I don't have any money for a new camera right now but do I really need to upgrade to a dSLR camera or even a Micro Four Thirds to be able to take decent pictures? Specifically those of the stars, the moon, the planets in the sky? Also, if you have tips for taking good night sky shots I will be grateful. Pic related is what I want to take pictures of. Although this shot is probably taken using a powerful camera. Or is it just edited?

Hey /p/ I've always wanted to get into photography... I've got an old Canon Powershot G6 and I'll be moving to the Santa Fe area of New Mexico soon... and will probably a good amount of free time. I see this as a good opportunity to learn some photography skills. Can someone point me in the right direction for learning some basic stuff before I go? Thanks!

Need some help picking up camera. Purpose is for taking photos of clothing for eBay. Have old sony point and shoot 11 MP camera, with light kit (just bought), photos look like crap. Looking for DSLR. (1) This photo is with 60d, someone else has 7d and has cool pics. yet someone else selling clothes on ebay has a canon 20d (only 8 MP) and has amazing pics. What am I doing wrong... why's my 11 MP sony crappier than his 8MP canon 20d? Or is it the DSLR that's making his better? Will a canon 20d work for me, or do I need one of these 60d/7d/mark III, etc. (2) photo on the right, yeah it's run through photoshop... we have free cs6 photoshop at school, is there some type of filter I can use to get badass pics like photo on right ? or does that take hours of editing?

Hey /p/, Im not a regular user here so I'm sorry if this thread is unrelated, but I figure you're the best people to ask. Sometime near February or March I'm going on a Tramping/Hitchhiking trip to basically wherever. I plan to both hitchhike, and Craigslist rideshare until I get to a campground or somewhere similar. While doing this, I want to document my experience, both for the memory, and to heed the inevitable rape attempt that has a good chance of happening. So basically, I'm looking for advice on a good video camera to buy. Good quality, possibly an external microphone (or ability to attach one that I could buy separately). The problem is, my price range is about $500 and below; I tried looking on Ebay/Amazon, but their video cameras are $1,500-$2,000. Any recommendations? Much appreciated-

I apologise if this is posted on the wrong board, I read the sticky and did not see anything about this, I need help basically I have a mediocre digital camera, 12.2MP fujifilm finepix j37. My wife and I were feeling kinky and decided to take some pictures, however the closeups were incredibly blurry. Is this a common thing with digital cameras or should I buy a newer one for such a purpose (lol) It was darkish but the flash was on, I havent changed any of the camera shutter settings etc (Wouldnt know where to start). Was it the flash? are some cameras awful at closeups? etc I wont post an example here for obvious reasons so pic isnt related, its the Tiergarten in Berlin [EXIF data available. So, I´ve been wanting to try model photography, I want to study light When I first bought my rabal all I wanted was landscapes, wildlife and street, but model photography has been growing on me to the point that I want to learn about how to use light to get a flattering portrait, reflectors and such Keep in mind that I´m a hobbyist, and while I can afford some equipment I don´t intend to buy a whole photography studio. My current gear is nothing but a tripod, remote shutter release, a rabal t3i, the nifty fifty, kit lens and the 100-400 L. Is any good reading online to aid me in my new journey? Also, post photographers that use the light gudly

How much would you charge for editing photos? Just minor stuff: tweaking the contrast, correcting color casts, maybe taking out glare on glasses, adjusting sharpness, and the likes
