Best DSLR for movies, for a relatively cheap price ? (I mean, under the Mark III category) I learned about raw recently, possibilities in post look awesome. The cheapest choices looks like the 50D, but I'l not sure if it works well with magic lantern (unimited record time ?) plus I head it has some aliasing problems. So maybe 60 or 70d ? (even though I thik 70d does not have a hack yet, maybe it'll never have one, who knows.) Last raw choice looks like the Black magic pocket but distribution is a mess in my country and UI'm not sure about eventuals flaws it may have, it's still pretty fresh. Well, who knows, maybe I won't go for raw yet. Maybe it's still too early to try those newborn raw models or hacked cameras. Olympus OM-D E-M5 looks pretty cool (except for the 60 and 30 fps mode only, pretty sad Olympus models won't ever be hacked, I suppose)

Pentax DSLRs for entry-level. The Pentax K30 seems to beat the shit out of both the Canon 700D and Nikon D5200 at a lower/same price. Only problem I see: Lenses. Afaik there's no 50mm f/1.8 for 100 bucks. What about the 18-135? If image quality isn't a whole lot worse than the 18-55, I'd go for that. How about options for the kit 18-55 lens + a tele zoom? Cheapfag here, not going to spend too much money on that stuff. Also, reasons to get the Canon/Nikon? The biggest turnoff for me is the tiny viewfinder on those cameras (and higher-tier Canons/Nikons are much more expensive than the Pentax K30).

I did some photos of architecture

Would you guys be up for a critique stream? I miss the ones shoe always did. I have a channel set-up and I don't mind doing some critiques, im sure others would be down for it as well. Either twitch tv. or even google hangouts if more than one person wants to speak instead of just write in chat.

I really like the idea of the instant camera and having one off hard copies of all the pictures I take; is it really as bad of an idea as everyone seems to think it is?

I'm too scared to photograph stars in my backyard. Not scared by someone who could kill me or take my gear, but by my footsteps and comets. What should I do?

Evening /p/, I saw this image in a thread here a couple weeks or so ago. I've looked at it for a while and I'm trying to decide whether I "get" the joke or whether I'm reading WAY too deep into it. >tldr; How important is shallow DOF to you? Lately the small sensor argument took that path because IQ, noise, high ISO performance and lens choice are getting better. Not as good of course, but it's good to the point that more people find it acceptable enough to work with. And that's when shallow DOF suddenly become all high an mighty. You CAN'T make the customers drool at your shallow DOF? Top lel your camera doesn't worth shit. It's not everyday you need to use muh DOF so shallow only one eyelash is in focus. Not to mention there are six billion other ways to give artistic appeal to your photo. I personally think getting more shit in focus can't be that bad.
