Have any of you tried out firmware "hacks" such as Nikon Hacker or magic lantern? I read something about filming raw in 2,5k resolution. Is this true? I've got a Nikon D5100 myself. Is there anything worth downloading for it? [EXIF data available. Click here to show/hide.] Camera-Specific Properties:Image-Specific Properties:

Ongoing Creepypasta

The story so far, all of the following is a chronicling the true events that took place for me yesterday. It went like this: I woke up, groggy, hadn't snapped too many shots in the last few days being that I was staying with a friend of mine in a place with not all that abundant of scenery. I'm damn near broke, also homeless, so I got on my 15 speed bike and decided to take off to the next town to catch a ride with some other friends to donate plasma for cash. I was riding down at street in between Ft. Pierce and Vero Beach Florida. Emerson Ave if I remember correctly. I was gazing around for any points of interest like I do all the time and noticed on my right side a house with a broken, deteriorating gate. The grass had grown to be 3-4 feet tall in the front yard and long moss hung from the untouched trees. I noticed the vines growing up the face of the house. "Perfect photo op," I thought to myself. I made my way through the field of a front yard and proceeded up the cracked steps. As I reached the front door It seemed to crack open just a bit, or it was just my imagination, or the wind. Either way, my excitement only began to grow. I pulled the door open to reveal the remnants of someones previous residence in deep decay and prospering with mold. (continued on next post)

So last day I went to a Hasselblad Roadshow where they presented Lunar and Stellar. It's fun to see rubies on <1000€ cameras to make them expensive. Thing is I also had the chance to try a H5D and I brought to you a Hassie raw (exported to TIFF because neither lightroom nor photoshop can open .3FR format) so you can play with. There were free cocktails, so the picture is not as good as expected for the ocasion. I hope photoshop masters come by to correct mistakes <- Unedited JPG original: https://www.wetransfer.com/downloads/a6601917b617614adc9c9e276eca74a220131016162413/760937 (available for 7 days)

Looking to get a camera phone for my travels that will send / receive calls, texts & emails + taking amazing shots. The only 2 options seem to be Pureview 808 & Lumia 1020. From a photography stand point which will take better shots? I'm edging towards the Pureview 808 as it aesthetically looks more pleasing to me. TL;DR from a photography stand point only which is better Lumia 1020 or Pureview 808 [EXIF data available. Why don't all dslr viewfinders come with a rule of thirds or golden section grid? It would be a tremendous help when composing a photograph correctly as you shoot, as opposed to cropping the image in post-production. And no, I hate live view and avoid it like the plague.

So i was pretty set on getting a T3i for around 500 (I'm not looking for absurdly expensive at nearly the same image quality) But then i saw this, and it appears to have higher image quality compared to T3i AND T4I and better colour depth. I've read the sticky, but it doesn't solve everything, anmd please throw away your fanboyism, I am just a humble man in desire of the most bang for my buck DSLR (600 dollar budget). What is the /p/ro opinion?

Getting Acquainted with Technical practice and Theory

Hey /p/. I'm a newbie around here and to photography itself, and I've noticed that most threads around here are either photo critique threads or equipment discussion. By this, I assume this board is cut-out for photographers who have experience in technical practice, theory, and know a decent amount of photography history. My question is this to you all: How did you learn things such as the negative, light and exposure, usage of natural and artificial light? What was your approach? Also, did you read books by Ansel Adams or someone like Anne Tucker? Maybe Camera Lucida helped you grow as a photographer. What books would you recommend a beginner who's interested in becoming a serious photographer? I know boards like /pol/, /mu/, and /lit/ have collections of "essentials" to be read, so maybe you guys do, too. If so, drop it here please!

God damnit, perfect entry level DSLR for me ruined by the fact I don't know where to get one for a fair price? Local camera store doesn't even stock these little fuckers. 800 bucks for the newer pentax? Fuck that. I don't want a t3i or a D3200, I want a goddamn K-30, but I don't know where to buy one.. Amazon is soon to be sold out, and I won't have enough until the 3rd of november. What do I do? [EXIF data available. Alright guys, I have been taking pictures for people at some horse race events and I've been having a good time but am now running out of room now that I'm expanding my gear. I need a recommendation for a good camera bag, preferably in a backpack style that can fit 3-4 lenses, filters, batteries, a grip, the camera itself, tripod, and a laptop. Thank you in advance.
