Can someone please tell me how this bow tie was lightened? Also, what basic camera settings were used? I'm trying to copy the look. Haven't gone well so far..

Questions that don't deserve their own thread thread. I'm currently travelling and have a few questions I hope someone can answer. Firstly, when photographing a dark subject against a bright background, is it best to underexpose the whole image so that none of the background is blown out and then fix the dark areas in post? I've read that blown out areas can't recover and sort of colour in post processing, whereas dark underexposed areas can. I'm shooting RAW by the way Secondly, in a lot of places I'm going, the temples, monuments, scenery is often obscured by ugly looking wires, pipes, rubbish, fluorescent lights etc. It's basically unavoidable... How do you get rid of these in post? Photoshop? Thank you /p/

I've been looking for a portable yet high quality alternative to my dslr kit for a while (years). Today I got a hands on with the Sony RX100 II. I didn't get to inspect any photos in detail but the camera itself was beautiful. I am so close to buying one. Previously I was looking at the Canon G16 but this blows it out of the water in almost all regards. The only issues are the lack of an integrated viewfinder and the very small size. I wanted something portable but it has to be comfortable to use. Anyone own/use one of these?

Thinking about picking up a Nex 3N since it's pretty cheap to use for mounting some of my weirder manual lenses. I'm just wondering if anyone knows how the focus peaking works, since it has a lower res screen than all the other nex cameras.

Looks like the Zoom War rages on... 24-1560mm f/2.9-6.5, probably a Sony-designed sensor, EVF and raw. Not bad for 350€. I really want to see how the lens performs (inb4 herpderp it will never match DSLR lenses)

Hey there /p/. I enjoy making pictures, but I'm kind of limited with my camera at the moment. I'm rather interested in making pictures of the nature, especially when travelling and I would be willing to spend up to 1,000 € for a good camera. I'm not really interested in used ones though, so do you have any idea what's a good one for beginners, regarding my situation? Or what's a good camera for taking pictures of the nature (e.g. landscapes, animals such as walruses, froges or toucans etc.) in general? [EXIF data available. Photograms + non-camera photography

Anyone have any experience with photograms or other non-camera photography? Taking a camera 101 course as an elective at university and it's my first time in darkroom. Cool stuff. I'll post a few of the prof's examples.

I found my stolen gear on a craigslist post. I posed as an interested customer through email and got his home address. Should I just visit his house at night with some gasoline? What's the most effective way of causing him pain without me having to face him? I am literally shaking with anger.
