sup, /p/? I just found this old camera at my grandmother's house. I don't think that it is worth anything, would just like to know if I should try to make some pictures with it which could turn out nice or if it is just a piece of crap? can I stick normal rolls of film in it? Hey /p/, Has anyone here bought a lens on ebay from Japan (to the US)? And if so, did you end up having to pay custom taxes? I'm looking at a lens that is quite substantial in price (over $1000), and would really rather not have to shell out more money for customs or whatever. [EXIF data available. Quick Question

Ive got a "point and shoot" digital camera that Im having some trouble with. It seems to distort the pictures slightly; like everything in the middle of the photo has a slight 'fish eye' or 'swollen' effect to it. The best way I can think of to illustrate the effect is with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7fz-ZPWM24&t=3m30s Ive linked to the portion of the video where they sort of stretch the head-on view of the car, without actually zooming in or out. What is this effect called? And is it something I can adjust on a lower end digital camera? Thanks for you help! [EXIF data available. Someone just asked for a '900px longest edge, canvas 1200px' and '350px longest edge, canvas 500px' image Does that mean 900x1200px dimensions? Surely it can't be if his longest edge is 350px, because 500 is longer. Obviously. Is canvas by pixel a thing? How do I set that? This is really confusing me. Sorry to be a bother.

ITT: False photography myths >digital is superior to film >film is superior to digital >fast aperture is all you need for bokeh >full frame is inherently better than smaller sensors >pentax is bad >ricoh gr is a good starting camera >you don't need filters and polarizers because you can do in pp >leica is superior >autofocus is better than manual focus

Hey guys. This is kind of my 'big break'. Been a nightclub photographer for a while now and I just got an offer from a travel agency to come to Prague and shoot some video and photos for them. It's going to be a six day trip /w travel (bus from Denmark), so that kinda counts as a day. I get everything paid on advance: The travel, food, drinks and a special club card for a shit ton discounts on nightclubs. Don't know of I'm ready though. I feel pretty confident, but by "moving" I don't feel I'm in my element. Do you have any tips for a rookie? Anything I have to be cautioned about? Shooting with a EOS 500D. Going to get myself a microphone for sound while video recording. Pretty nervous.

>be in high school newspaper and love it >fast forward to mid 20s >no college experience >work shitty jobs with occasional photo gigs since high school, no real prospects >decide to pursue dream of becoming a photojournalist >going to college just because it's required in the field Am I making a huge mistake by spending all this time and money for the hopes of a career in a dying industry I have pretty much no experience in?

Finally finished a test roll that I've had sitting in my Canonet QL17 for 2 years. I haven't been around /p/ in ages, so I figured this is a good excuse to get myself to come back. Most of this stuff is just checking out what certain scenes might look like on film, but there are a few shots I like enough to share. Feedback is more than welcome. [EXIF data available. Hi/p/sters, Please redpill me on the Canon 5D Mark III... I keep hearing "Oh, it depends what you are using it for", so here is a bit about me, my skill level and what I want. ME: I work in a greenscreen studio as a video editor. I have access to an array of lighting gear and a controlled space, coloramas etc I want to make use of it and up my skillz. I am interested in shooting models with [redacted] and regular greenscreen stuff for the web. I can just about afford one, if it is a good investment. SKILL LEVEL: I know all the basics of photography, but cant seem to combine them in to photos I like. They all seem technically flawed, probably because I have chosen a dodgy stetting or the colour balance is wrong. I have never owned a real camera only borrowed a 550d from work and my photos/video suck- maybe owing to lack of practice/skills. WHAT I WANT: The capability of shooting beautiful footage and stills with minimal technical limitations. I dont plan on doing too much work in post if I dont have to at least to begin with. I want to learn the fuck out of the art of taking great pictures and video. I hope all that was of use and that you can help me decide if to buy or not.

Hey guys, looking for feedback on these shots. First time for me both shooting medium format (120mm) and first time developing my own film. Critique is more than welcome on both the shots and processing. I got them scanned professionally. These are the first 3 rolls from a lengthy project I'll be doing for a local movie theater. Next year they will be celebrating the 100th anniversary (!) of their first film screening, and wanted a thorough documentation of the theater in its current incarnation, along with some nice portraits of the folks who work there both posed and unposed'. I'm aware I don't quite have the hang of focusing yet. These also haven't made the "final cut" by any means. Just the first few rolls of a huge project. [EXIF data available. Olympus OMD or FujiFilm X-Trans: pick your bitch

Olympus has a new cam being announced today, the OMD EM10. It's like a budget version of the EM1 in a body about the size of the EM5. Likely to be popular. Being an OMD it should have fantastic AF and pretty good IQ. There are tons of great M43 lenses. FujiFilm announced the TX1 yesterday. Being a Fuji it should have shithouse AF and very good IQ (if you don't care about greenery being smudged). Plus Fuji's started added some pretty decent (expensive) lenses to the line-up. If you were diving out of DSLR and into one of these right now, which glass would you be stocking up on? [EXIF data available.
