WTH did i just do? filter systems

30 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: 1-30-2014 9-51-41 AM.jpg]
less than a week ago I was asking about camera recommendations for an $800 budget. I ended up getting the canon t5i with 18-135 for $999. then I ordered a CPL,mafrotto tripod, and head then yesterday I got stoned and visioned taking a panoramic or a valley & mountain view. I now I will be having promlems since there is at least 3 stops of difference during the day between the sky, mountain, valley, and foreground. << then I did this last night. Ordered some filters and a pano head. now Im wondering if I made the right decision. anyone else here work with filter systems that at first you thought was a waste of money, but then came to find invaluable?

Hey /p/, My girlfriend gave me this camera and lens like a year ago and I just found it at my parents' house collecting dust. Apparently she used it for a photography class years ago. Don't really know if it's worth anything. It comes with a Minolta 50mm f1.4 prime with a filter but no lens cap. Should I keep it? Or sell it? Don't know anything about film. What kind of mount is it? I think Minoltas can fit on Sonys?

Lenses for a Rebel G

4 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: swaggot.jpg]
I feel like I'm about to make the equivalent of a >wat kar is gud thread on /o/ here on /p/, so if that's what this is, I apologize, because fuck those threads. But my girlfriend picked me up a Canon Rebel G body, so I'm looking at lenses/improving it. I know very little about cameras, but I'd love to learn a little bit from you guys, if you'd like to show me. What sort of lenses should I be looking for? I'm not looking to shoot anything crazy at all, just something decent for a variety of ranges, and since the Rebel G is plastic and lightweight, I'm assuming there's nothing wrong with having a plastic lens? and if I can, something for less than $200. >tl;dr how do I use film and pick a lens, /p/?

Indoor locations NYC

Hey, I have a small etsy store and need to take more photos of new things with my model BUT it's cold. It's freezing. I normally just go to a park and have to troubles but last time I tired doing it in the cold my hand hurt so bad and my model was very upset. I'm trying to find an indoor location that doesn't require a permit of some sort. She doesn't feel comfortable going to my house so we normally meet at public places. And all the hair products means it's very noticeable that we're not just taking selfies. Has anyone else found warm indoor places in NYC where you can take photos without anyone bothering you? MiniDV VS Newer SDHC Camcorders

I know this isn't exactly a place for camcorder threads; but I figured it was the best bet for some more experienced cinematographer advice. >I've read that MiniDV is better than SD/SDHC video in terms of raw quality. These articles are old though. I've always been interested in my hobby of film making, but my equipment just isn't up to specs anymore. (They're from early 2000s) I'm looking for something better, but I've read about issues with the newer AVCHD format's compression rate. I'm just looking for advice on pulling the absolute best video quality out of a camera in the 300$ and below range. Any advice is welcome, Anon. Thank you for taking the time to read my >wall of text. >TL;DR: Is MiniDV still better than AVCHD on SD cards/HDD. I'm speaking in terms of quality, not convenience. [EXIF data available. Anyone have experience using a tilt/shift lens to make false miniatures? Should I just crank the tilt to max and point down? Is there a big difference in tilt direction?
