How is the Lumix G3? I'm looking for a camera that I can have on me 24/7, I was somewhat infatuated with the Fuji X100 but it's outside my price range.

It's pretty meh.

If you can live without a viewfinder, get GX1 or some lolympus.

S110 if size really matters.
RX100 if you don't mind the fixed lens.

I don't think any m43 camera is quite small enough to have on you 24/7. Maybe in a bag but not on you unless you wear baggy coats all year.

If you can fit an ILC then the EPL-5 is a worthy contender. The same delicious sensor as a top of the line OM-D minus 5-axis IS.
Fuji's ILCs are also good provided you can look past the slow AF and higher price.
NEX has completely mediocre glass and not worth it unless you're looking to adapt old MF shit in which case it's best.

>>1826636
The GX1 is pretty much the same camera as the G3. It's only marginally smaller. You can get a pancake zoom with it though.

this. the sensor of the e-pl5 is just excellent and performs even better than the one (same) inside the OM-D.

Not when you consider it's from raw with no NR or anything. It holds detail remarkably well.

I would rather have this sort of result than smeary shit.

If it's the same sensor and processing, why would it look different?

>>

>>1826696
Because there is a slight difference, can't remember is it's the low pass, or whatever, but there is a slight difference, apparently.

Personally I don't see it, but obviously there are people waiting to jump on the E-PL5 that think they're getting a camera equal to the OM-D.

I'd rather have, you know, a CLEAN image. But I guess that's not possible with these cameras.

>>
Anonymous 2013-01-02 17:00:43 No.1826703
>>1826698
There was a rumor that E-PL5 has no low pass filter, but that turned out to be false. They may have tweaked the filter a bit, but for all practical purposes, E-PL5 and E-M5's sensors can be considered identical.

You're obviously used to shooting JPEG then. Raw images are just that, raw.

Do you think that an ISO 3200 shot from ANY crop is totally clean in raw, with no adjustments?

Not even the K-5 and D7000 will give you that.

I would rather have detail with a little noise than smudging and loss of detail, ya know, so I can decide how I want it to look.

Trust me, the new sensor in the OM-D is plenty capable.

Why don't you have a look at a raw file from the god-tier D800 at ISO 3200 @ 100% peep mode.

You'll see it's not perfectly smooth.

On 4chan, edc means every day carry. I think it originates from /k/ and compact firearms discussions.
