Would someone help me understand paper hardening a bit? I meant to do a mask, then make the rest of the armor for cosplay, but i cannot strengthen the paper.
My first attempt had no raised edges in certain areas, and the resin seeped through every tab. I bondo'd over and made it right-ish but it wasn't perfect and some of the paper had disintegrated. I tried to mold that with a single layer of fiberglass(thinking a single layer would be flimsy and remove easy). I oiled the bondo but It didnt remove which left me with the left mask.
I then made a new mask with the tabs on the outside so that i could just dissolve the paper and be left with a perfect resin mask inside, but the paper was to tightly bound to the fiberglass.(seems obvious now...) mask on the right.
I made a third mask with the tabs on the outside, but this time painted the inside several layers with spray paint so the resin would bond to the paint and not paper, but it seems to have went straight through and bonded to the paper. It is now damaged having tried to remove the paper and the spots where where the fiberglass didn't actually touch the paper left empty space.
How do i do this right, and how do you keep your resin from seeping through all the tabs if you are just going to keep the paper itself and not mold it. Can you even pull a mold off papercraft? I don't feel like wasting time and money /po/. Help please?
