Forgive me for being new- but /toy/'s custom toys thread wasn't able to help me out much, and I'm thinking my question might fall more into your guys' specialty.
I have an idea for a modular, blocky, action figure series- however, I want to make it out of cardboard. I'm not planning on selling them or anything, just having a little hobby I can do, to own some personal articulated figures of characters I like or think up.
The idea is that I draft up a papercraft template for each piece in illustrator, test it out using paper, then use the templates for cutting out cardboard. I would then reinforce the cardboard with paperclips, and create holes for the joints, in this case standard Revoltech revolver joints, and then connect everything together.
However, I'm curious if you guys have any examples on how to get started with papercraft? Are there any good guides or rules I should follow to be able to craft relatively complex, but still relatively simple shapes? I'm mostly going to be using squares, but I want to be able to some more complex stuff too. I'm also fine with using math to calculate some stuff. Are there any good formulas or ideas for me to keep in mind when calculating areas, length, and connecting? I know trig and the Pythagorean theorem might come in handy here.
Also, what size revolver joints should I use? I want these to be around six inches. Are there any other joints or joint systems you guys recommend over revolver joints? I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me out.
Pic related, it's one of the first characters I want to make, even if in super-deformed form.

Hey guys, new guy here. I remembered that many, many years ago Coca Cola had a promotion in my country, where they've put little papercraft cardboard christmas themed houses on 2 liter bottles. It was a folded up green cardboard quare, one side is a base, other side has the house that held together by teeth.
Now I didn't found anything about them on google, so i ask you guys maybe you have some pictures or scans of them. I remember really loving them, and I just want to see them again.
