Can Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 Threads have their own damn board? They're on thread #275 now....they're taking up space that could be used for something that hasn't been discussed to death, fucked in its rotting corpse, reincarnated, shot, fucked in its rotting corpse, reincartated again ,....you get the idea.

just hide the thread, it's pretty much a general like a lot of other threads on /a/.

Oh shut the fuck up. Clearly you aren't a regular /a/ browser. This happens Ever. Fucking. Time. Something. Big. Comes. Out. Deal with it, eventually it'll die down and there'll be less threads about it.

Only once did something like this get so out of hand that a new board had to be made, and that was Touhou and VNs which went to /jp/.

Anonymous 2013-01-04 08:55:14 No.358716
Backed. I'm sick of seeing that shit on /a/ every day. Make them take it to /m/.

KS also did that and was appropriately moved to /vg/.

But /vg/ wasn't made *for* KS.

That's true. But I think all the generals need to be moved somewhere else because they're cancer and promote off topic discussion and tripfag circlejerking.

Just get rid of all the long running generals and I'll be happy.

Great idea. Lets allow or disallow certain things in /a/ based off what makes you happy.

I was just kind of commenting about that being another example of something swarming the board and being moved from /a/.

Honestly, the Eva threads are nowhere near as bad, easy to filter or hide, and they're actually anime related, so I see no harm in leaving them alone.

Things like KS became a problem because the board was swarming with threads about it and it wasn't even /a/ related.

Pointing out that the very logic he used is garbage.

Considering the lack of logic in OP original premise, you've got some interesting opinions on "logic".

Anonymous 2013-01-04 10:21:25 No.358760
It occupies one thread slot on /a/ and is pretty much the only general that's always up. It's not really a problem.

How is "they promote off topic discussion and tripfag circlejerking" not giving a reason? Have you been in a general? It's a bunch of namefags and tripfags blogging and shitposting.

Those other generals are up enough of the time. I'm guessing you don't use the catalog.

Anonymous 2013-01-04 10:37:20 No.358767
>>358765
You said that AND its being cancer. You said it should be MOVED because it is cancer and promotes circlejerking. Not that it is cancer because it promotes circlejerking. lrn2grammar

And I always use catalog.

And all I did was point out that the last line of your post was irrelevant, you then fell back on lazy arguments such as shitposting.

Drawfag general
Buyfag general
strike witches general
GuP general
Idolm@ster general

Well, there's five threads out of the 160 that /a/ holds at any given time. And unlike an unfortunately large amount of threads on /a/, they seem to actually be used for relevant conversation. For the record, I don't use any of those threads and rarely go in them, but it takes me all of 5 seconds to hide them. It seems somewhat unreasonable to deny those people something they enjoy keeping in mind that they are completely on topic.

Simply using the catalog or hiding them should eliminate any "problems" the generals incur.

So you're going to resort to semantics because you don't have an argument? Okay.

>>358768
You had nothing to add with your first post other than a snide remark. You did not offer any argument

Maybe those threads start off on topic, but they have a LOT of circlejerking, blogging etc. Also saying we should just ignore problems instead of fixing them is stupid.

>>
Anonymous 2013-01-04 10:52:19 No.358774
Eva generals aren't quite as bad as they could be, but they still need to stop. There is not that much to discuss. They've given rise to an unnecessary number of new tripfags and namefags, and they do stupid shit like "first for Kaworu" whenever a new thread is made. I don't want to encourage that kind of posting on /a/.

>>
Anonymous 2013-01-04 10:57:15 No.358775
>>358774
I agree completely. This is exactly what I'm trying to say. Generals attract namefags and tripfags trying to make a name for themselves and give them a place to be "recognized" and circlejerk/blog.

>>
Anonymous 2013-01-04 10:58:01 No.358776
OP you are a faggot. Just wait for a camrip or for the BD to come out, then after some days (weeks in the worst case) it will go down and generals will probably dissappear.
And then, when it all dies down, we will just go back to the weekly "WTF did I just watch" threads.
Accept it, EVA is popular and /a/ likes to discuss it. Just use the catalog.

>You had nothing to add with your first post other than a snide remark. You did not offer any argument

I never intended to make an argument. I simply wanted to point out how pretentious it was for you to throw your happiness out there as some sort of requisite for the way /a/ should be run. It was an irrelevant point for you to bring up.

>Maybe those threads start off on topic, but they have a LOT of circlejerking, blogging etc. Also saying we should just ignore problems instead of fixing them is stupid.

If threads going off topic, circlejerking, etc truly is a problem on /a/, I can only assume you have a problem with nearly every thread that ends up with a post count over 50. Every thread there degrades over a period of time. Perhaps we should let mods arbitrarily decide when a thread has run its course and close it. I honestly can't see a difference between that and you suddenly deciding that generals are undeserving of a place on the board.

What you believe to be a problem is subjective much like what you believe constitutes being snide.

I can only assume something else about these threads bothers you as the problems you describe run rampant throughout /a/ and certainly aren't unique to general threads. Most people seemingly ignore them and make the best of it. Asking moderation to get more involved with /a/ more than it already has, is a slippery slope at best.

I don't like the idea generals represent. It seems more like a forum thing and I think discussion stagnates quickly in them. What is there new to discuss in the 275th Rebuild thread that couldn't have been discussed already?

>>
Anonymous 2013-01-04 11:29:09 No.358792
>>358782
We're currently on the 2750th F/SN general for instance. It's simply not labeled as such. Should we eliminate discussion of any anime that isn't currently airing? Perhaps six months after the last episode? Where do we draw the line? Anyone should be able to discuss any anime they'd like imo. If the threads go off topic, that moderations job to get it back on track or to punish posters who deliberately shit up threads. As I alluded to already, I don't think there are enough mods on 4chan to keep /a/ on topic, and I'm not sure I'd want them to try. There are certainly some bad threads there, but heavy moderation seems like a worse path to choose.

>>
Anonymous 2013-01-04 11:41:28 No.358796
>>358792
Usually the OP has something to say other than "x general." Also, we don't have a 300+ post F/SN thread up at all times, I see them maybe once or twice a week.

Also, slippery slope fallacy.

Well, I won't spend anymore time trying to convince you then. You've failed to separate any significant problems that exist within most of /a/ as opposed to problems that exist solely in general threads.

>I don't like the idea generals represent

Your complaints seem to be philosophical as opposed to pragmatic. Nothing will come of this either way most likely, as such threads have a long history on the board.

Christ, when have NGE threads even been a problem, seriously.
The only people that are annoyed by 3.0 threads are old NGE fans, for a number of reasons.

Fuck off. /a/ gets filled with shit threads all day. At least this one is on-topic.
