Will the Feynman lectures be of any use for an engineering student in those generic engineering physics courses? I struggled in the physics 1 course which was kinematics, energy, and thermo. I struggled with those same topics in high school physics, and college didn't really get any better. The issue is this semester I am taking the second part which is the electrical stuff, waves, etc. I really need to learn the material in the section of the class since my major is electrical engineering. http://www.amazon.com/Physics-Scientists-Engineers-Strategic-Approach/dp/0321740904/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_0_1 That link is the textbook we use for the course, and it is a great textbook. Some of the things were still difficult for me to understand. I've never struggled with math courses, but applying them to the physics scenarios is hard for me. If I ever get the problem set up then it is a breeze. I'm probably rambling at this point, but I really need help! Thanks guys!

IF human consciousness is evolving and Humans haven't developed Artificial Intelligence strong enough to match human mentality then how can ever Machines compete with us and try to make us slave? http://www.peterrussell.com/SCG/EoC.php

Is there any merit/use in studying General Relativity as a physics student?

Why isn't the Lebesgue Integral taught instead of the Riemann integral? Seems like Lebesgue is more general and applicable.

I am at a block. I cant decide betwern two science fields. I want to study the stars. I want to discover new planets, observe supernovae, study orbits, etc, but i also want to use math to explain the stuff. I also want to work a little bit with the origin of the universe . Should i study astronomy or astrophysics?

Dear /sci/ I do not believe cells have lipid membranes. I would like to see good experiments that conclusively prove the existence of a lipid membrane. Please do not enter this thread just to tell me that I'm dumb, or that I'm trolling, or that I should just take a biology class or read a textbook. If you don't have something constructive to add, then move along. Some counter evidence: http://jp.physoc.org/content/280/1/105.short >Cutting into a cell and exposing the cut face to a solution of sodium and potassium does not prevent the accumulation of potassium nor the exclusion of sodium http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1072717/pdf/jcinvest00750-0067.pdf >Cells selectively accumulate potassium over sodium, rubidium over both, and cesium over the other three. What happened to the Na/K pump that pumps K inward?

I made the mistake of visiting /pol/ today and now I'm worried about the future of the human race. Do you think humanity has enough energy and resources to keep advancing like we've been for the last two centuries? Do you think we will be able to switch to renewable energy / electric cars / asteroid mining / vertical farming / desalination in time to avoid widespread shortages, or is our society doomed to collapse?

Before we're born, we are non existent. After we die, we are once again non existent. If this is so, then why don't we live after we die, only just as different people with different brains? I understand that you specifically can never live again, and that's not what I'm asking. Basically the brain that you are was once non existent, correct? But then the brain that you are now came into existence / formed, and then consciousness soon followed after this brain developed enough. If we completely obliterate the brain into a million pieces, or even if the brain just dies, don't you become non existent once again? The same non existence in which you were before your brain ever formed? So then why don't you exist again, just as somebody else after you die?

http://thespiritscience.net/2014/07/14/the-soul-fits-into-quantum-mechanics-according-to-physicist/ NAMASTE, Relatives of the Rainbow Warriors of Prophecy, and Relatives The Arcturians. I bow to all in LOVE, LIGHT, LIFE. 1PLUCKT4ALL Peace, Love, Unity, Creation, Knowledge, Truth for ALL THINGS are ONE. Golden Cosmic Father, (golden, green, rainbow, gray). æ?tt?œ,tïræ?To! &c?ßæ; Love Bringer. In terms of chemistry and neuropharmacology: The indole ring itself acts as a basic neurotransmitter; your body uses it in various ways and for various metabolites. Most appropriately for the balance of your mind. GAIA itself, the sporadic fruiting body of this planet, is a living being; a living body and unit allowing for spiritual energy transfer. When your eyes first see, they see blue; blue is associated with love. It is after becoming conscious that your mind parses the fractal geometry of the pattern of your existence. Dimethyltryptamine and serotonin help facilitate the balance of perception. A metabolite of serotonin; one that hardens into a crystal form upon excretion, that is, 5-hydroxy-indole acetic acid, is like the finality of the zipper for the Serotonin<--->n,n-DMT process; as 5-hydroxytryptamine itself is dehydroxylated, a process that must require energy, and is then alkylated in an aqueous substrate, and then dealkylated, the most likely conclusion of this process would be formation of a ketone. As your body stores energy from sugar in the form of fat, for physical discretion, then so it may store and process information in a neural format in a similar manner as a computer does process and stores with its hard drive, in so for spiritual discretion as per breathing and ionic exchanges of equivalence; a chemistry acronym is LEO the LION goes GER.

Foolz is dying! https://blog.foolz.us/2014/08/14/foolz-archives-farewell/ I updated the archive link in the sticky to Warosu. https://warosu.org/sci/ Foolz supported LaTeX for a while but then stopped for some reason, Warosu has never supported LaTeX.

How the fuck can I learn math quickly? I failed trigonometry in high school, but was still able to graduate in 2011. Now as a NEET who hasn't done anything for 3 years, i've decided to go to college. The Advisor says i'll need to learn high school level trigonometry before I can start my major. I'm worried because I haven't used anything beyond basic arithmetic for over 3 years now, while most people taking that course are fresh out of high school. What do I do?
