>have ap biology midterm tomorrow >still in highschool >horribly bad at test taking and bad at learning >literally got a 60 on last test on DNA/RNA and shit >still in highschool Kill me, /sci/. How am I going to be a smart, educated scientist if I can't even handle intro to biology 101?

Why is 1+1+1+... not equivalent to 1?

Mathematics is the rigorous study of logically simple concepts. Why only logically simple concepts? Because they're the only ones we can rigorously study. Agree?

Have any of you ever taken graduate classes as an undergrad? The class I'm thinking about taking as an EE undergrad is OFDM and CDMA systems... How difficult are graduate courses when compared to upper level undergraduate classes?

I'm trying to find an analytical expression for a reverse Fourier transform with a quadratic chirp I don't know what to do with this cubic term. Any thoughts?

Hi /sci/, how did you decide what you wanted to study/work with? What do you think about your field?

>lurking sci >doesn't even know how to code What's the most complex thing you coded? My greatest achievement so far is a NGS de novo assembler although there are far better ones available..

Dear /sci/ If all f you are people of science why do you still use such arctic terms as IQ? That's not how intelligence work.

I have a pulley design issue i would like to have my bed suspended by ropes on each of its corners, and able to be raised to the ceiling with a pulley system. So how could I make sure each of the four ropes raise and lower with equal distance without having to manage four different ropes? Ideally, I would only need to pull/release one rope in order to do this. I thought about having the ropes join into one rope in the center of the bed and just using that, but the problem with that is I would not be able to raise the bed as high, and it would allow it to spin around.

Is strong AI possible? It just seems impossible. I read a lot of journals for AI and it just garbage. 50 years of work and no new ideas. It must be possible to create a conscious being. It must be possible to become like a god.

How does light exist? Energy is massless. Light is energy. However, light is a particle. How can a particle exist if it has no mass?

/sci/ knows nothing about math. We should just rename the board to speculative science and nothing else. Here's a trigonometry problem from a 10th grade maths textbook I found in my old cupboard. I can't solve it, and I bet nobody else can. (I have the answer, it's in the back of the book; if you don't explain how you got it I'll assume you cheated.) Find two angles ? and ?, so that sin ? = cos ?

If you had an egg with a chicken in it, and you put it in orbit around the sun at the right distance for 'incubator temperature', would the chicken survive until it hatched?

What exactly are the chances of finding anything at a depth like this? I understand that Mars is pretty inactive. But, if Mars used to have life, wouldn't this top layer of dust have come later after they had died out?

/sci/ whats your problem with computer science majors? It seems everyone here has a negative opinion of them and are always undermining their efforts in college and in the work place.

Interstellar says you can fly into a quickly rotating black hole with a ship if you are going fast and remain unharmed. Is this bullshit or what?
