How much of Computer Engineering is Thermodynamics? I'm currently taking my first core class (Thermo) after getting my AA and I absolutely hate it. I'm rethinking my major just because of it. It's not particularly that the work is difficult but more that the work is incredibly boring. I have no interest in heat transfer rate of polytropic processes, exit velocity or things like this, but the concept of working on circuits interest me. Maybe even writing programs seems interesting. Should I change to computer science or is thermodynamics not a good class to judge the whole of CE from?
I would have put this thread on /adv/ but I've asked there before and got no responses
The entire universe is basically an 8th grade project for some extra-dimensional alien kid. This explains the fine-tunedness of the universe. Prove me wrong, faggots.

Sequences

Aight guys here's the given sequence so far... 7, 13, 19.... fill out the next 5 numbers given the hint that the next 5 numbers ARE NOT 25, 31, 37, 43, 49 This is supposedly middle school math. Let's put the power of humanity to the test. This is more a discussion than anything since I don't have a verified answer. P.S. I've tried skipping primes already though I don't think it's that easy.

Computational Linguistics

Anyone involved in the field? Seems extremely niche, but elicits intriguing implementations of genetic algorithms etc. Some specific questions: Is there any specific research on using computational methods to decipher pictographic languages rather than phonetic languages with a fixed alphabet? Specifically referring to Minoan pictography/Linear A. What is the next potential breakthrough?

Who else in here is using the greatest tool in mathematic history? If anyone else is, can someone tell me HOW to find this answer using it? I don't see any 'polynomial' related topics on Mathway (im using Premium account by the way)

What is non-existence like? How could we simply not exist after death? Life feels meaningless knowing that it will all be for nothing and that I won't ever experience anything after a few short decades on this planet.

So we all know CS degrees aren't worth the paper they are printed on so lets brainstorm on how to fix the major.

Puzzle time >You have 8 answers, only 4 of which are correct. >You can only select 4 at a time >You are only told how many you have right >you must say all 4 at the same time to win What is the fewest guesses you have to take to win? What are the guesses? Pic related

You are walking along in the park. Out of nowhere, a woman pops up from the bushes and begins to yell at you, "I have two children. At least one of them is a boy." What is the probability that her other child is a boy as well?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/03/27/fabricated-peer-reviews-prompt-scientific-journal-to-retract-43-papers-systematic-scheme-may-affect-other-journals/ Disgusting. Anyone who does this should never be allowed in to an educational institution again.
