What do you do during your free time? I usually listen to music or write. I feel like I'm not using my full time to investigate math though, and it kinda weighs on my conscience every now and then.

Hey /sci/ I may have stumbled into the opportunity of a lifetime. Here is the story. >IBM Watson comes to my university >Talking to the guy who is demoing it >IBM is using it for stuff like writing recipes >Begin thinking of practical applications >Figure one out has to do with the military >Email IBM Watson unsolicited talking about my idea >4 months go by no reply >On linkedin >"Someone from IBM is viewing your profile" >A week ago the leader of IBM Watsons business dev. group adds me on linkedin >Message him with my idea, expanded slightly more than the last time >Wants to meet for coffee >Have my white paper ready illustrating my idea in even more detail >Meeting is next Tuesday How do I become a millionaire from here /sci/?

Dawkins got a lot of flak for this: >If you can breed cattle for milk yield, horses for running speed, and dogs for herding skill, why on Earth should it be impossible to breed humans for mathematical, musical or athletic ability? Since /sci/ and 4chan in general is somewhat more open-minded, what do you think?

>I can't even solve a high-school physics problem but I will give you my opinion on event horizons and whether X is a legitimate science This is exactly why /sci/ is one of the worst boards. Opinion on BTECs

What are your opinions on the validity of BTECs compared to A-levels? I've just completed my first year of an Applied Science BTEC and achieved D*D*. I failed miserably at A-levels last year due to test anxiety. I'm thinking of going to University and studying Chemistry dual Biology to eventually go into the pharmaceutical industry, either in labs or helping create LIMS software.

/k/ and /a/ here with a question

5 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
We are having a conversation about the upcoming anime adaption of the Gate manga and a question arose: How much would Rory Mercury's axe/halberd weigh and more importantly how much ground pressure would her feet be supporting per square inch? Typical wooden floors and stairs are out of the question but could she even walk across wet ground? Assuming she is 5 feet tall the weapon is roughly 8 feet long and although the thickness varies it seems to have a handle 3 inches thick. The blade is roughly 3x3 feet and 4 inches thick, given the shape it seems to be roughly 6 feet square x 4 inches. Assuming 100lbs for her and her clothing how much does the combined ax+Rory weigh and how many PSI are her roughly men's size 8 boots exerting onto the ground?
