why does life/evolution want to reproduce? why do genes replicate themselves instead of self-destructing? why isn't there just matter and no life?

Pair of brown leather boots with blood on them. Can you help me find out how she died? Model: Destroy (???) Made in Spain Knee high, lace up, zip on inside of calf. Soft leather, size 5, square toe, stacked wooden heel. Very rare for Thailand. Found: Bangkok Thailand, Chatuchak market 19th July 15 Evidence? Brown/black 'droplets' dried and look much like dead woodlice. Found inside and outside of boot, stuck in sole pattern and on tongue. Leaves a pale stain when you remove it. Prominent dark splatters around heel, can post pics.Top inside leather is clumped and matted, covers a large surface area. Light wood chippings found inside seam-flaps. mucus-like stain on the outside, very glossy/crusty. Has a brownish hue. Next to that, an unidentified lump. Very hard, about as big as a large sand grain. Has a very black stain around it. Could be *other* bodily matter?

any bros working for biotech companies? or doing something related to bio/chemical engineering? tell us about your job and what degrees you got. I'm interested because I'm thinking about getting in the biotech field myself, either medical or agriculture. although I heard medical biotech is pretty shit.

Isn't it much more likely that we're just wrong about gravity as opposed to 98% of existence being composed of something we can neither sense or interact with ?

Consciousness is exempt of nature and its only perpetuated nature of response is conceptual fractals which can be considered from a variety of angles making the only identity of consciousness being thought, that of a thing of Critical, Emotional, & Reflective Potentials of thought and those are not things that immediately make up the registration of either the Picture, Expression, or Conceptual of that that is the expression of Reaction or Action and is that is grounds for consciousness being exempt of nature under the conditions of the Reaction of the Reflective Expression do to not having any compassion form of immediate expressive equal and this thing that encompassed them which doesn't bode well for their empathatic morality. Discuss?

If determinism is true, then it is theoretically possible to predict everything that will happen in the universe providing one has sufficient knowledge of the laws of physics and the current conditions of the universe. However, if one was to actually produce such a document, then one could negate it and do the opposite of what the prediction said Ergo determinism is false

Knowing that chemical combustion rockets are fundamentally ineffective at carrying a lot of weight because the more weight it carries, the more fuel is needed, and the more weight it carries, a breakthrough in rocket design is required to kick off a space exploration age like the caravel kicked off continental exploration. What would that breakthrough be like ?

What is the smallest/least complicated lifeform that scientists believe has any form of cognition? I was reading about micro-animals: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro-animal and I assume some of these sorts of things are just "mechanistic," like they have sense receptors and responses (in the way a plant grows toward light), but no brain or whatever the hell other than a brain could allow for some kind of cognition or awareness, of even a very simple kind. But I honestly have no fucking idea what I'm talking about. Is a tardigrade thinking, man? Is he having little tiny tardigrade thoughts? If not, what's the smallest thing that is? please hle pme i'm so confused
