It's socially unacceptable to knock on somebody's door in the year 2016. It seems that everybody is an introvert who has social anxiety these days. Glued to their phone like a zombie. Has modern technology gone too far? How does science fix this?

He's done it again. how does it feel to see a genius at work?

Probablility

I train 5 days per week. There is a 4/5 chance I will train after a day I have already trained. There is a 3/4 chance that I will not train after a day I have not trained. What is the probability that I will train 3 days in a row?

Help a brainlet.

Brainlet here. Can you guys help me get over a question I've had trouble with? While this question may be stupid, it is not a trick question. Let's say you've been tasked with finding a location for a space station on a moon that can and does occasionally get hit by asteroids, etc. and those can hit anywhere on the moon at random. While pondering where you should put your station you witness an impact. Does it make any sense to put your station where the moon was just struck because the chances of it hitting the same spot are extremely low or does it make zero difference because everywhere has the same chance of being struck regardless of where one struck last?

So for these types of questions (DE, undetermined coefficients), are you just expected to use the product rule 60,000 times? Is there something i'm missing? I have to compute y, y' and y'', and then combine all the like terms. What the fuck? This whole higher-order DE chapter has been a fucking shitshow of tedium. Do the product rule 5 milion times, do some linear algebra, factor the most retarded equations on earth. What the fuck is wrong with DE? Why not just replace this whole course with a fucking graphing calculator. Pls help.

Are there any good websites covering scientific discoveries? I've been following IFLScience for some time (yeah I know) but it can be such clickbait garbage.

I've just completed basic mathematics by lang and now I'm list as to where to go next. My goal is to study Machine Learning so I'll need to know Linear Algebra Calculus Discrete Math and Statistics. I dont know which to start with between calculus linear algebra and discrete math. They're all equally important and I don't see then building off of each other so which order do I study them in. I started to work through ch 1 of Spivak and it was very challenging , but I really enjoyed. Concrete Mathematics also seemed interesting after reading about the hanoi tower. Any help here guys?

>liking the IDEA of knowing science and mathematics How do I move my mindset to wanting/actively seeking to know science and mathematics? Do you guys really know what I mean? I like the IDEA of learning all of it, but when I open a book, I don't last more than 15 minutes, yet I know it's important to know this and I have this pseudo-wanting to know it because of how smart it all is. I feel like it's because I'm not in university and I feel like it's pointless for me to learn it because it won't be "counted" on a degree. Does anyone else feel this? Really, it seems like there is some mode you just need to be in to be inherently interested in it enough to read about it that I don't have right now not being in university.

>have genetic stutter whole life >have genetic baldness by age 21 >have genetic-disposition hernia at age 22 How soon will humanity find a way to "disable" these genes with science? I want to have kids but won't if it means they'll be subjected to this hell

"mental" versus "physical"

I realised a few days ago that all the stuff we call psychological and mental, are nothing more than physical responses of the brain. in short, i want to know if this really means that any thought we have is a real, touchable thing within our grey/white matter? Could we someday posess the technology to read and write to a mind via electrical or chemical impulses? Is there anything i should or could read about this, that is not tinfoil hat level retarded, and not a white paper (as i am too retarded for that, didn't have much of an education, but am still very much interested in all sorts of things, like the above)

Would moving in sublight speed cast a shadow behind or ahead of you when traveling in circle?
