Anyone with decent physics knowledge read about this today ? I am an ME and I kinda got blown away when I read the news as this shit has some pretty major implications behind it, like first steam engine or first computer major implications

Why are StackExchanges so autistic?

If someone ask remotely a similar question as someone 10 years ago people will get ~extremely~ upset and comment how thread should be closed and feel good about themselves. If someone ask what books to read on a subject mods will say this is off topic chit-chat and have thread closed. If someone ask a really basic math question someone will "show off" and answer the questions correctly using 4-5 higher levels of sophistication than required (one the person who posed the question certainly wouldn't understand) and this commenter will get tons of "comment kudos". If someone has questions about a response and the "comments" get more than 1-2 replies a mod will say move the discussion to "chat" (which no one uses) and comments are for short pieces. Most SE seem to be on the insufferable side. Why is this?

How would you find x? Not necessarily a value, but at least an interval. I was thinking about using the Hinge Theorem, but we don't seem to know anything about the angles unless I assume [math]\angle ABD > \angle DBC[/math] just because

Ok, fuck this pretentious shit. Latex has to be the very worst thing ever programmed. "hurr we're gonna make an 'easy' typesetter for science and math, BUT WAIT, let's make it more convoluted and stupid than fucking JavaScript so even people who have been using it for 12 years still have to constantly google how to do stupid shit like add a degree sign!" Are there any better options out there? Aside from Google Docs and shit?

Would it be effective (not to imply efficient) to decontaminate water by electrolyzing it into hydrogen + oxygen, then burning both gases back into water? What effect would this have on sodium fluoride present in the water, either during the electrolysis or in combustion?

Is universe a sphere ?

44 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Yo i was wondering if the universe could be a sphere, just like before oceans exploration and they thought earth was flat. Could it be a sphere? with no way to get out if you are not from the 4th dimension, just like everything in the sky at night, every planet is a sphere, galaxies gather and make a circle paterns. I like to think that if we could travel fast enough in a straight line in the universe we would get back to the start point... i have trouble thinking about the big bang theory as something exploded and made the universe, if it is then it would have to be EXTREMELY enormous "thing" that exploded to make all the galaxies and the atoms in the universe and even there, what created that extremely enormous thing ... its beyond my understanding or are we living in a simulated universe created by some advanced super Artifical intelligence and even there, who created them? I want to know where everything came from, so let me know what you think about the subject. We might not learn the answer but hypothesis and theories are always interesting ...

This man is a true genius and the most valuable Google engineer. He's like a God at Google and not even the CEO would go against him. He literally made Google what it is today and wrote/worked-on all of their most important software stacks. He's worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Now, notice something interesting: He doesn't have two, three or four monitors and he doesn't have some gigantic TV screen that kills your focus and distracts him from everything important. He doesn't have some bullshit meme mech keyboard with some special switches that were forged by elves in Japan from katana-grade steel and lights that emit perfect sRGB colors. He doesn't have a mouse with refresh rate so high that it breaks spacetime continuum every time you slide it across your desk. He doesn't have a $300 pair of audiophool grade headphones. He doesn't have some super-expensive chair with all kinds of knobs and adjustments that can can even massage your prostate. He doesn't have some tricked out text editor with million different features and colors. He doesn't run some super-autistic Linux distro like Arch that demands you babysit it all the time. He doesn't have some DE with customized CSS US that you usually see in tons of threads on here. He didn't even change the default theme, colors or the default background. He can afford all that shit, yet he doesn't waste his time on it. Instead, he writes 100x more lines of code than you and is 1,000,000x more accomplished than you'll ever be. And he's infinitely smarter than you'll ever be. So quit falling for fucking memes and quit craving all the latest bullshit that gets posted on here in these cancerous consumerist "generals" threads that just make you feel inadequate. Just learn your craft and get better. What matters is what's in your head and how you express yourself and not what you have on your desk. Now go do math!

Amazing scientific facts about the universe. >There are at least 100 starts in the milky way galaxy! >You can fit 50 football fields end to end between the Earth and the Moon! >The energy released in a supernova can cook an egg! >The sound from a jet engine can hurt your ear! >Humans have evolved for hundreds of years! >Sometime 1 millimeter is enough! > The speed of light is so fast that it can outrun a formula 1 car!

Truthfully, is climate change an issue that we should concern ourselves with? I tend to get mixed messages when reading about it. Does anyone have any good evidence for or against climate change being an issue. No memeing please. God help me if anyone says anything about Trump or Al Gore.

My ability to cocentrate has been severely fucked up over the past year and I'm just always distracted in ways I wasn't before. In the past staying focused was not a challenge but now it's hard Is there a way to fix this besides brute force? Pic unrelated
