Is there any ongoing research to create genetically modified trees that grow fast and absorb more carbon? I would think that this would be a worldwide research agreement, considering how extreme the governments and their scientists consider climate change to be.

How smart /sci/ truly is?

How do I know if I'm intelligent enough to go into some of the stem fields like mathematics, physics or engineering. And please don't say IQ tests because i really doubt they'll tell you your real intelligence and they're really fucking expensive. I'm asking this because i want to learn something math-related but i don't want to just waste my time and realize it wasn't cut out for me and i'm not smart enough to specialize in that field and that im just throwing my money away.

IQ vs. Grit. Who wins? Rules 1. Grit guy has average IQ 2. IQ guy is restless when it comes to getting what he wants. He cannot stand defeat.

The falling quality of /sci/:

What the fuck is going on? Literally, on the first page alone there are 8 threads which are either shitty bait, memes or /adv/ tier inquiry (mostly to do with education or employment). And the remaining 6 aren't of outstanding quality either. Did all of the brainpower drain into Stack Exchange?

>scientists accept the big bang happened faster than the speed of light and the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light >but it is still impossible to travel at or near the speed of light Can someone explain this shit to me? Why do scientists believe in contradictory explanations?

Okay, scientists. I am tired of your bullshit. Every time I talk with one of you, you insist that I use "standard form". You insist on it so much that you know what? Okay. I'll do it. But I will do it only if you prove that the standard form is well defined. In other words, prove the following theorems: Theorem 1: For all [math] n \in \mathbb{R} [/math] there exists [math] a \in [1,10) [/math] and [math] b \in \mathbb{Z} [/math] such that [math] n = a 10^b [/math] Theorem 2: Show that no real number has two standard forms. In other words, prove that the standard form of a number is unique Theorem 3: Show that no two real numbers have the same standard form. Scientists, if you can prove those 3 theorems to me then I will accept your "standard form" as a well defined notion that deserves my respect. If you can't prove it then that shows that the notion of standard form is just a half assed convention you used because your professors told you to and you have no capability of thought.

Let's say I don't believe the world is round. How can you prove the world is round to me?

Prove you aren't a brainlet by answering the following question. A spaceship leaves earth now for a planet around another star 200 light years away. In 100 years you leave earth in a spaceship that can go 2c, twice the speed of light headed for the same planet. what would the captain of the slower ship see as he watches you overtake him? assume that faster than light travel will be possible in 100 years. more details in this mind blowing video. https://youtu.be/_tmMKQ4kp_I

As the monthly fuel-burn increases, so does the CO2 rate-of-rise, thus the graph of atmospheric CO2 becomes steeper. This is not rocket science.
