Rivalry

Where were you when you suddenly were the average joe and not the Einstein of your class? Like when did you suddenly not make the right impression and someone else beat you to it?And got a reaction like the pic here. I think most of us math/science nerds have been through this. It's tough, especially when you're not getting that attention that makes you giggle within. Or maybe that's just a mild narcissist talking, or you're the modern age's Newton. Anyway, you know that feel?

Synesthesia?

Can any /sci/entists explain to me why it is that certain variants of synesthesia are more common, or why the link seems to go in one direction more often than the other? I mean, for instance, grapheme-color being as common as it is, or the propensity of words to invoke taste in particular, and not taste evoking words. Why are some cross-wirings relatively common? Why does sound>image seem to outweigh image>sound? I'd also be interested to know if any of you guys are synesthetes, and what variants you have. I have multiple-synesthesia myself : Ticker-tape, sound>tactile, number-form, spatial sequence, smell/flavor>color, grapheme-color, and music>color. Also, why is A always red?

Is there a math formula which rounds down(floors) a number by simply using the number itself and basic math? By example: f(1,5)=1. Can we floor the number by only using the number itself and not picking out its decimal?

What is the most aesthetic, pleasing, clean, freedom, software environment to work with computers? Linux and Python? Windows and C++? Apple and some crap language? You know exactly what I mean. I want it to be logically and aesthetically pleasing. IDEs and even Notepad++ are garbage tier. I currently use Notepad, but I want to use the redundant, obsolete, disgusting buttons (top row has something like "File, Edit, Format, View, Help", name, and some utterly repulsive three buttons) that I want to get rid of.

Primality Test for 1430 digit powers

2 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I have a problem for you /sci/. Consider n to be a 1430 digit number. Consider x to be a set of 116 odd numbers. All members of x are < 1000. Now I don't expect a solution (I wouldn't complain but shit's hard), but I'm interested in hearing your solution path and how you would tackle this primality problem. Good luck.

Is Physics a meme degree? Why is it often considered a top degree on here on par with engineering. Isn't it just a degree you study if you want to teach it, like history?
