It's been an hour and I've moved to the anger stage after about 30 minutes of uncontrollable sobbing. My thoughts.
-Ovi needs to learn to shut the fuck up and lead by example. One goal isn't enough.
-Backstrom is the absolute softest player I have ever seen. Trade him for as much as you can get - a couple really good wingers are better than one great regular season 1C and middling playoff center.
-Thank God Green is gone after tonight. If he's not, I'm never watching another game.
-Trotz fucking lied to everyone about a new era and rewriting history and a culture change. He flat out lied. Like his predecessors, he knows just what to say but not what to do. Why Ted and GMBM (looks like his GM career is off to a BM of a start) picked him over Laviolette, a guy that's actually made it deep in the playoffs, is just a symbol of how little they care for this fanbase and this city.
-This franchise is as cursed as it gets. Whether it's 1985 or 2015, absolutely nothing changes. After the Nats shit the bed on national TV last October, I was really skeptical about the possibility of this city ever winning a real championship (and fuck off with your DC United crap). After tonight, not only am I wholeheartedly convinced that it will be 50 or more years until DC wins a title, but decades before a team makes it to the Eastern Conference Finals, NFC Championship Game, or NLCS. They're bums. They're all bums and divas and princesses that give it their all for anywhere from 4-6 months depending on how long their regular season is, but will make every excuse in the world as a way to justify their humiliating moral victory after choking away a series lead or flat out not showing up. This city is an injustice to what sports really should be.
The future has been bright for a fucking DECADE and they have NOTHING to show for it. Just pick Kettler Iceplex off its foundation and drop it in Milwaukee or Seattle or Quebec.
