Today sees another two sessions from the Ally Pally as round one continues. Highlights of yesterday included Steve Beaton’s sexy 3-0 victory, dancing Dimitri Van den Bergh overcoming crippling autism to knock out Ian White, and Simon Whitlock continuing his descent into the darting abyss by busting 76 while 2-0 up in sets & 2-0 in legs before going on to lose 3-2 to Ricky Evans. Pegging enthusiast and one-time lock for making a TV quarter final Andy Hamilton begins his campaign against the wandering eyes of Joe Murnan, then D14 will take a battering as based Mensur meets Jermaine Wattimena. Completing the afternoon session, Jamie Caven takes on the winner of the prelim match between Michael Rasztovits & Rob Szabo. Paul Lim has once again qualified for the Worlds, and his prelim tie against Aleksandr Oreshkin is first up this evening. Don’t forget to take a drink every time Lim’s 9-darter is mentioned in commentary! Bunt Man’s rise up the rankings has stalled since his ill-advised Premier League campaign, but a good performance here would get him back on track, starting with victory over Jyhan Artut in the evening’s second match. Another player who needs to arrest a slide down the rankings is Barney, who plays fellow Dutchman & Hardstyle fan Dirk van Duijvenbode. The weekend concludes with tonight’s prelim winner taking on testicle-headed jobber Mervyn King. Coverage begins at 13:00GMT on Sky Sports Darts/Sky Sports 4, with the evening session from 18:30 on SSD/SS1.
