/sp/, I finally found the solution to the football/soccer naming argument.
Here's what we do. We call American football, "football". There's only the one player on the field (the kicker/punter) who can use their feet at a time, and when they use their feet they only use one of them, due to only kicking the ball once. So regardless of if they're right-footed or left-footed, "football" (singular), works.
We call association football/soccer, "FEETball", since every player on the field can use their feet and every player uses both their right and left when playing.
Football and Feetball. It's perfect.
What does /sp/ think of this earthshattering realization???? Have I solved this age old problem?????
