I stare at the sky, watching the clouds slowly float along the blue sea above me, some forming together to grow larger and darker, a bit like the process of devouring others to gain their strengths I guess. A warm wind dances along my skin, bringing forth memories of warm and loving caresses from within my mind, the memories of those whom I've devoured entirely, broken little flashes of their lives, kind of pathetic really and let I feel a slight twinge of regret for the moment they flood my vision. I shake my head and sit up from the stream, my hair relighting as I do so.
I should go and try to at least make something productive of my limitless time. I turn and see the old human farmer, whose name I never learned, next to him is a girl, shorter than the sheep one, Rose I believe her name was. She pushes the old man forward. He sighs and stares me into the eyes, the weakness he usually shows gone entirely from them.
"Look, uhh" He says tilting his head, tapping his shoes on the ground for a moment "Wait what do you want us to call you again?"
"I do not care what you refer to me as" I say standing up "Great one, creature, flame head, stop eating our food, anything will do, however I do have a title"
"Oh do you know?" He asks smirking
"Yes, in fact I do" I say smiling, showing him my fangs in their entirety "The everhungering, I do believe I gained it for devouring something my kind view as rather inedible"
"Oh you don't have a name then?" He asks
"I do, but you have no need to know of it" I say "I am the only being who knows my name, besides one other"
Would Monsters Change the Arms Race?

Throughout our history weapons and body armor have developed side by side, constantly trying to outdo the other. I'm a big fan of the sort of gorgeous utilitarian armor that turns up in human history, and I'm guilty of raining on the parade of people who like excessively fantastical armor.
However, something set me wondering whether the sorts of armors I love could still be considered utilitarian in a world full of threats that historical armorers never had to deal with. If you turned up at a battle and could expect creatures with notably greater than human strength, trolls for instance, how would that change your calculations? Does a full body suit of Plate cease to make sense in a world where you can expect to meet some monster that will just crush you underfoot if you're too slow to get out of its way?

You stop for a moment. This certainly isn’t the main hall, no, that’s for sure what is it then? Then it hits you like a rampaging wyvern, the smell it’s disgusting, it is the smell of rotting flesh, the smell of fecal material and throw up, the smell of men and women forced to live in their own waste hoping to catch a rat for extra protein, the smell of dungeon with no keeper but many prisoners. You struggle to your lunch down as the smell overwhelms you. Your eyes slowly adjust and you begin to make out shapes. Bodies lie strewn across the dungeon floor some grasping feebly at the bars, others lie on their backs, some sit upright against the wall and you think you see one bound by hands and feet to the wall.
“W-who are you people?” you struggle to say as Agrias gets off of you apparently attempting to keep her lunch down as well. *Hurk* -aaaand Arc just lost his.
The one tied up to the wall speaks up this time, at least that’s who you think is talking it’s still hard to tell in the dark. “Men, and women of the village mostly. Or they used to be. Now prisoners of the vile Jidal and his men.” The figure says. The voice is also feminine in nature but this one although melodious has a venom to its tone. “I’m not one of them, captured while on my travels. But I am in the same predicament. Jidal keeps us here until we break, die, or get ransomed. Thoes he breaks either become more bandits for his forces or slaves for him and his twisted mammoth of a brother. But that’s enough out of me it looks like you have company.”
You hear stomping coming from the corridor behind you. The sound of dozens footsteps down the hall.

Khorne taught me martial honor, that conflict is inevitable and bloodshed is part of our human nature, as empires and kingdoms were forged with war and hatred.
Slaanesh taught me that fear is all but an illusion, since every moment must be enjoyed, every feel, every sensation must be praised and experienced as a whole.
Nurgle taught me the joy of decadence, as everything rots and writhes away, like life itself and the human psyche, a man should take everything with a pinch of salt, as everything will become corrupt and stagnate.
Ultimately, Tzeentch taught me hope, ambition ad knowledge are above all, as they are the fuel that keep the human life burning and going forward in progress and self-realization.
I serve Chaos IRL.
Ask me anything.

This is Tarsh, the world of Dead Gods. On Tarsh, the Pantheon is stretched to the breaking point by the deaths of all but three of its dozens of members, with the remaining members largely serving advisory roles when they appear to mortals at all.
In this quest, you assume the life of Elsa Ledren, a young Sergeant in the Skirmishers of the Auxiliaries, the support forces of the Royal Army of Cender. You were on a long-term assignment’s first leg when you were attacked and killed in the forest. Your divine Pantheon member, Asa, brought you back to life with a mission: track down and kill the people responsible for trafficking the ancient magic weapon that killed you and your men. You discovered a large conspiracy to traffic and use these ancient weapons, and have been stealthily – or not – killing them off. In previous threads, you knocked off twelve of the conspirators, and now there’s only their leader left alive.
In the origins of the world, there were fourteen gods, and each created a race in their image. Yours, the elves, were created by Mai’te, who then created two demigods, a man and a woman, to liaise with the people, and also created the Heralds. These were normal mortals endowed with some of the powers of the demigods, and able to telepathically communicate with Mai'te, her children, the demons, and each other.

Feel like a bit of a faggot for making my own thread for this, but meh. Normally I'd do this in a /qtg/ but they no longer exist.
I come bearing some meager gifts! I wrote more, but decided they'd ruin coming surprises. Instead you get character insights and cliffhangers. Additionally, I give you a choice as to what else I do:
I know, I know. Strawpoll. Might as well ask people to samefag. It will remain open until about midnight (5 hours). At which point I'll call it. In the meantime you can ask me anything. Well, anything within reason. If you'd like I'll even do additional little excerpts, but expect them to take a while. In the downtime you can feel free to shoot the shit about most anything: other quest, movies to watch for inspiration, books to read for inspiration, what you'd like from my next quest. Anything, just so long as it's tertiarily related to /tg/.
My experience with a "professional" GM

I stumbled across a professional GM running a D&D game and charging $7 per player per session for a premium experienced. They were already several sessions into the game, and they were recruiting new players.
All I knew about the storyline so far was that dragons and "dragonkin" were coming from another plane and were marching to invade this one nation in the world, but only a select few people (i.e. the PCs) knew about this planar breach and impending invasion.
I was apprehensive towards the concept, but I thought I would give it a try to see what this "premium" game was like. I contacted the GM on Skype. This was the conversation we had.
GM: Howdy, feel free to send me any questions you may have anytime you're on.
Me: The storyline seems a bit confusing. There are dragons and dragonkin coming from another plane? What cosmology does this game use? I am intimately familiar with the Planescape cosmology.
GM: Basic cosmology, 1 known Prime Material, Astral, Ethereal, Elementals...etc.
Me: That would be the Planescape cosmology, then, with the seventeen Outer Planes, no? What plane are the dragons and the dragonkin coming from?
GM: Unknown, nobody was able to identify it during their short visit
Me: Are these dragonkin the Draconomicon dragonkin?
GM: I'm not familiar with the draconomicon...so that should answer you on that.
Me: What are these dragonkin actually like, then?
GM: Thinking that since that information is only available to a select few in game, I'm going to require you to gather that information in game.
Me: What role is my character supposed to actually take, then? What investment does my character have in joining this party? Is this planar breach a major event? Will this be a planar travel-heavy game?
GM: Whatever you want your role/relationship to be...you can bounce ideas, talk it over with the others, or just wing it in game....no matter.....and no, the planar travel wont be a primary focus

Excuse me Commissar, but why did the emperor even make 20 primarchs when he could just have went straight for Thunderwarriors 2.0? Especially since he was able to make geneseed from his own DNA - as we see with the grey knights. It wasn't really the primarchs who conquered the galaxy, it was the legions of hundreds of thousands of Space Marines. Why would he create beings who might be able to threaten in any way? No primarchs, no heresy, no problems. He'd conquer the galaxy a bit slower, sure, maybe even noticeably slower, but since he knew about the warp it seems awfully reckless to risk it.

Across the countless stars and worlds of a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, unrest seems to rule the minds of the fledgling Galactic Empire. Troops are recruited on every inhabited planet to serve as protectors of the peace, as power vacuums result in the rise of criminal warlords, rebellious uprisings, and general anarchy in the absence of the Republic's decommissioned Clone armies. The rising might of this Empire keeps the people safe, for now, but there is always a need for the brave and the strong to take up the mantle of the Imperial Military to ensure peace and justice. It's a time of conflict, a time for heroes, and a time for you to stand up for what you believe in.
You are Rell Berus of Corellia, newly comissioned Cadet on the Star Destroyer Element. You've always dreamed of joining a cause greater than yourself, to help restore order and peace across the galaxy. You're emotionally distant because you have to be; the scale and danger of the universe does not allow the closeness to your loved ones that you wish it would.
>You're very smart, scoring high enough to secure a spot among the fabled Imperial Navy
>You had a significant other back on Corellia, Keth, who you left on the rainy plains the day before you shipped out
>You are no longer close with your formerly tight circle of friends, who you ignored on your last days in the training camp to focus on fitting in professionally for your ship assignment
>You're physically strong, and capable of feats of endurance and force necessary for the physical stresses of the military
>Jevva, your best friend, was assigned to the Imperial Army, her last choice among the other branches. She's angry that she will not be serving with you

You are Reinhold, master swordsman and victor of the Royal Swordsmanship Tournament. The King was so impressed with your skill, he personally requested that you be transferred out of the army and into the Royal Guard! Not bad for an orphan who was raised in a brothel in a poor fishing village.
The only issue at this point is your assignment... you've been charged to be the personal guard of the King's only daughter Marianne. While she is the vision of loveliness that you'd expect from a Princess, her personality is... well... she seems to have some issues.
After showing off to everyone how adorable Carina is, you remembered that you kind of have a job to get back to. And figuring that now's as good a time as any to introduce her, you brought Carina up with you to go fetch Marianne.
>Congratulations, Reinhold is now a fearsome DIRE WOLF!
>Much larger than their the other types of wolf, the Dire Wolf's size also means that they are also that much more dangerous.
>The Princess considers you to be her dear friend!
>But while dire wolves are massive, they still don't -quite- stand on the same level as people.
