This is a thread created for the discussion of Quest threads, as well as sharing of advice and guidance for aspiring or current QM's. Posters looking for advice on tabletop games should look elsewhere.
Useful links: http://pastebin.com/x6BqaJ7r
This link contains numerous writing guides, general advice, and various quest tools and communities.
This is a directory containing the tweets of most current QM's. While a twitter is by no means mandatory, it is a useful tool for both you and your players. If you are a QM, simply post your Twitter here to have it added to the directory. Spamming your quest twitter with non-quest related tweets may result in its removal from the directory.
[The Cabal] #QMC @ Rizon.net (slightly related to quests; enjoys worldbuilding, mechanics and politics)
[Hugbox] #ques/tg/enerals @ Rizon.net (barely related to quests; enjoys Larro quests and anime)
Do you think that subconsciously you project your fears and biases in your quest?
Have you ever cringed at something that your QM or other players wrote?

Nigga we got Archived edition
Last time: >>46850684
We got archived early, so I'll just carry on from the point where we left.
The Darkhart Folkdom accepts your proposal of friendship. After two weeks, your Homunculi's breeding genes have been improved, and they evolve from small goblin like workers and gain a more humanoid strain.
A month passes, and tragedy strikes. The Empire has crossed into your territory, and have ransacked your cliff city of Dilita. Survivors of the attack say that your sister and governor of Dilita, Deltaraa, had prevented the Empire from passing through the area outside of your territory. They also record that many slimes have survived the attack, though unfortunately, Deltaraa was not one of them.

>Confront the Empire for their actions

Didn't see one so I figured I'd start one.
How do you handle existing/classic races in your setting? What homebrew races are unique to the setting?
What are elves like? I'm not sure how I want to handle them. On the one hand I'm kind of annoyed how for whatever reason elves seem to need a new subrace if they so much as change a zip code.
To that end, I want one race of elves, with "high" and "wood" elves being different castes of the same race.
Scholars, nobles, some of the greatest wizards in the realms. Near mythical to other races. Have retreated to isolated cities, either hidden in deep forests within remote valleys, or even upon floating islands held aloft by magic. Don't really give a fuck about other races, and are perfectly content to use entire kingdoms of them as pawns in schemes centuries long in their scope. All about being left alone to master their obsessions.
Nomadic, fixated on reclaiming lost elven holdings/repopulating the race. Infamous for "the wild hunt" where, upon nights with total lunar eclipses they descend upon human settlements to murder, pillage, loot, and rape. (Other races aren't exempt from their wrath perse, but humans are particularly resented because of their rapid growth and penchant for expansionism; they're a race of usurpers as far as elves are concerned)
Now. What of drow? Drow are badass, and if I include them I don't want "elves = good, drow = bad" I like moral ambiguity in my races. I'm rather fond of the following tropes when it comes to elves-

So my buddy is dating a chick way out of his league (think fat gotcha chick from High scool realized it was a faze and lost a ton of weight and the shitty attitude kept the tits and lowlife friends) and she wants to get into Dungeons and Dragons. I told her to pick out a story she liked and I'd DM it for her, not thinking she'd actually put in the effort to find something as bad as what she did. It's basically a brony's anime wet dream, and I already said I'd DM and can't go back on my word, too good of friends with her boyfriend.
Can you guys give me some ideas on what to do for a story? The doc she gave me basically said 'start in a giant hub world', so I plan on doing that, but I have no idea what the hell to do after that. I'm just going to steal some 3rd Edition monsters and give them new names, and reuse a ton of my older boards. So, the only thing I'm really missing is the story.
Help me /tg/, you're my only hope.
