Let me tell you about Technomancers in Shadowrun 5e, gentlemen. When you Emerge, an AI plants itself in your soul, like a brain parasite. As your powers increase, the AI grows stronger, until it devours you, and you no longer exist, just the AI in a meat body. Retconning means this is what all Technomancers have always been. Even the one you play as.

I never heard of this Spoony guy before, especially since I don't care much for Youtube personality-types, but my roommate was listening him talk about tabletop roleplaying stuff, so I could help but listen in, as well. http://spoonyexperiment.com/2012/09/11/counter-monkey-circle-strafe/ And after all that, I couldn't help but wonder.... Is this guy a bad DM? Now don't get me wrong. I'm all for playing having enemies be played with some degree of intelligence, but it seems like Spoony very much has a PC-killing mindset that really rubs me the wrong way, particularly exemplified by his TPK-by-dragon anecdote. So sure, the dragon is content with just flying around and using its breath weapon, never getting into melee range with the PCs. I don't have a problem with this show that the PCs are clearly outmatched. My beef is that Spoony felt like he must chase the PCs down to the ends of the earth for even daring to try and fight a dragon, justifying his excessive vendetta as "a lesson in humility." Please, it was already humbling enough for the PCs to find themselves in such a one-sided fight in the first place, and they even immediately identified the situation as such and concluded that they had to gtfo. So why not just let them? Because the dragon wouldn't allow for it? If the dragon is such a superior being and realizes that the PCs don't even pose a threat, why should it even care whether they live or die? If a fly is bothering you, do you feel compelled to go out of your way to see to it that the fly dies, or are you content when it goes away?

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/undead/ghoul >CR 1 >Melee bite +3 (1d6+1 plus disease and paralysis) and 2 claws +3 (1d6+1 plus paralysis) >Special Attacks paralysis (1d4+1 rounds, DC 13 Someone please explain to me how an incredibly low-level monster whose gimmick is to potentially take a PC out of a fight for *2 to 5 rounds* is good game design in any way, shape, or form. "Yeah, see, it's got three attacks that each have a chance to hit you with paralysis, and the odds were stacked against you. Go sit in the penalty box and wait this fight out."

Hey guys. I just ran a civ thread on /v/ that lasted 6 hours. I enjoyed it a lot, but found it really difficult to tail it off. What's a positive way to end a campaign that can only last a few hours. I ended up having to throw an unstoppable eldritch horror at them because 6 hours later I was creatively backrupt. Also the nature of an anonymous board means there is a lot of samefagging, I want people to think their ideas will be considered, but don't want a strict first reply wins sort of thing, to prevent trolls and stuff ruining it for everyone else. Some general advice would be appreciated. I lurk here often and like the stuff you guys do here. Thanks!

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20Dominion New players please see -> http://pastebin.com/yX3uw7bq http://houseanddominion.wikia.com/wiki/HouseAndDominion_Wiki You are Sonia Reynard, Attack Wing Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine! You command the Third Attack Wing, a mixed unit of fast hard hitting Cruisers, Frigates and Corvettes. Its been eighteen hours since your raid on a smuggler held world you found using captured charts. As far as capturing ships goes things went better than could be expected. Your unit was able to chase down, intimidate or otherwise take control of more than thirty starships then escape with them in a short period of time. A nearby enemy held shipyard scrambled ships to investigate a distress signal some of the Smugglers managed to get off. Fleeing the area with the captured ships in tow you returned to base to have the transports dealt with. It would only take a few short hours to collect your Marines and head out again you reasoned. Then life decided to be a bitch.

/tg/, what are your opinions on cactus-folk? I'm trying to set up an encounter in a desert area for my players. I really like the idea of them, but I can't really pin down what to do with them. Pic related, the suavest cactus there is.

I actually dislke this mechanic as a player AND as GM. I played my frst game as both race and class I had no interest in, whch is bad for everyone as it means i'm not truly invested in the game. As a GM, i'm setting up a game, and i'm going to allow my players to choose their race and class. Not only does it allow people to feel ist 'their' character, it allows me to weave the opening plot around them more easily. How have others felt about this?

Fighter Vs. Monk 3.5e So I've been primarily playing a sorcerer/bard for the last few years. I'm getting pretty bored of it and wanted to branch out. I'm looking into creating a custom build similar to a monk/fighter that uses spiked gauntlets and grapple in battle 90% of the time. I'm not really sure whats the best way to spec this and I like the benefits monks receive but on that end I would neither be capable of using my weapon of choice nor wear armor. I'm also more or less concerned that I might incorrectly spec the character and end up overcompensating for my lack of ranged attacks as I've never really played a close-range character. Any advice guys? Pic sorta related.
