Let me tell you about Technomancers in Shadowrun 5e, gentlemen.
When you Emerge, an AI plants itself in your soul, like a brain parasite. As your powers increase, the AI grows stronger, until it devours you, and you no longer exist, just the AI in a meat body.
Retconning means this is what all Technomancers have always been. Even the one you play as.

I never heard of this Spoony guy before, especially since I don't care much for Youtube personality-types, but my roommate was listening him talk about tabletop roleplaying stuff, so I could help but listen in, as well.
And after all that, I couldn't help but wonder.... Is this guy a bad DM?
Now don't get me wrong. I'm all for playing having enemies be played with some degree of intelligence, but it seems like Spoony very much has a PC-killing mindset that really rubs me the wrong way, particularly exemplified by his TPK-by-dragon anecdote.
So sure, the dragon is content with just flying around and using its breath weapon, never getting into melee range with the PCs. I don't have a problem with this show that the PCs are clearly outmatched. My beef is that Spoony felt like he must chase the PCs down to the ends of the earth for even daring to try and fight a dragon, justifying his excessive vendetta as "a lesson in humility." Please, it was already humbling enough for the PCs to find themselves in such a one-sided fight in the first place, and they even immediately identified the situation as such and concluded that they had to gtfo. So why not just let them? Because the dragon wouldn't allow for it? If the dragon is such a superior being and realizes that the PCs don't even pose a threat, why should it even care whether they live or die? If a fly is bothering you, do you feel compelled to go out of your way to see to it that the fly dies, or are you content when it goes away?

Someone please explain to me how an incredibly low-level monster whose gimmick is to potentially take a PC out of a fight for *2 to 5 rounds* is good game design in any way, shape, or form.
"Yeah, see, it's got three attacks that each have a chance to hit you with paralysis, and the odds were stacked against you. Go sit in the penalty box and wait this fight out."
