been thinking of running a Flames Quest. I know..Quest threads-you love them or you hate them...just not sure how much of an interest of a WWII historic quest would go over here.

I do remember the old Graff Spee quest that went on...oh over a year ago. people seemed to like that. just wondering what the intrest would be

You know, i've always been tempted to try and reboot/run that Graf Spee quest myself ever since the original author left in a hissy-fit.

I think the hard bit about running any sort of WW2 quest is keeping the players from abusing OOC knowledge.
It's too easy to turn into "Let's kill Hitler" at the drop of a hat.

That said, a series of episodic, command-focussed WW2 scenario quests played with FoW rules (and photos) could be interesting.

Yes, sorry, was sidetracked by cookies.
Not the best picture, appologies.

This is, to my knowledge, the first ever 3d printed 1:100 puma.

Lessons learned:
1.) The gun barrel will need to be printed out of scale (thicker) in order to work properly with this particular printer.
2.) The way I split the hull (to speed printing) will not work with this printer due to warp
3.) several details (smoke launchers, vision slits) will need to be exaggerated-out-of-scale to print properly.

I'll try for a mk2 print tomorrow.
Sorry it's not as impressive as I hoped.

It needs a bit of tidying up, but I'm pretty impressed I have to say, especially seeing as its a first attempt.
You could just replace the barrel with a brass rod and reattach the muzzle break to the end, might be easier than printing the barrel, and significantly stronger too.
Did you make the model before you printed it?

Stole the model off a free video game model site.
Cleaned it up/repaired it a LOT, going from quasi-3d game model to actual 3d-printable model isn't easy.
Will probably put in 2-3 more hours of "engineering" before attempting another print, i'll be cutting most of the (very nice) details off, and emphasizing the major ones.

It's a RepRap family of printer that can be had for right around 600$.
It's nothing special, you could make your own for ~300$, and I"m not very talented at 3d printing.

I imagine I could do some really incredible things with, say, a 20,000 professional model, or even a 3,000 Form1.

Then again, this kinda is to prove a point. Every week or so another 3d printing thread pops up on 4chan, and every time some asshat who's never even seen a printer regurgitates some canned line he read on dakka about how the detail will never be there.

People actually say/think this? The detail from high-end printers is getting pretty close already, just look at Heer46s stuff.
I'd bet even cheap 3d printers could be useful for making basic tank hulls and turrets that detail could be green stuffed onto afterwards, especially curved parts that would be a wanker to carve from styrofoam.

It can actually give a pretty deccent result, although only for the very basic shape, but I've found it easier than building a hull from plasticard at this scale.
Of course every detail has to be added on afterwards, you can't go carving hatches and stuff into it, you have to make those out of something else or steal them from another kit.

I recently picked up a soviet SMG company for my Radzezki(sp?) but ended up getting Finnish Jaaderski(sp?!).
