I'm pretty sure that NTR is a fairly evil thing... I mean whether its the aspect of the rape that usually starts it, the betrayal when the victim breaks down or just reveals their infidelity, or other such things. I noticed a trend towards some really shady stuff in QTG last time i visited and sure, you can have whatever fetish you want but really it's not very defensible I think.

I intended to run a fun one-shot from a QTG idea, but the mods kind of killed my fun. Part of me wants to run it again in defiance, and with a less bombastic OP, but I don't have the time right now, and don't want to risk this trip again.

There lies a tower in the realm, it stretches past the clouds, past the sky, into places where the air is thin, and nothing may live.

In this tower lives a harsh and sadistic being, capable of doing anything, or so the legend says. Every ten years, a family with royal blood may offer their child to the tower, in exchange for the chance to gain a wish. After being marked, the child grows to 12 years, before being transported to the tower.

This wish is granted through the "King's game" in the tower, orchestrated by the being behind the scenes. The children may band together, each hold a card (which is impossible to lose), and together they can choose a "King" or "Queen", if all of the remaining participants in the game band together to elect a king or queen, then they have won the game.

The arena shifts in accordance to the being's will, bringing with it beasts, monsters, even other people and towns. You have been chosen by your family to participate in this game, to gain this elusive wish.

It's not just being stolen. There's many kinds of NTR. Being blackmailed, raped is also a kind of NTR but so is the girl voluntarily doing it for reasons.

Good Ending had this kind of NTR. The girl never really loved the guy in the first place and the guy caught her going out with her senior. That was not the type of forced NTR. It was the type where she never really loved the guy in the first place.

Another example of this is Onani Master Kurosawa. The girl he was crushing on was never really in love with him. He was just imagining the fact that they were really close. Because the girl showed him attention he thought she liked him and it gave the feeling of NTR when she went out with his close friend.

Another type of NTR is when a guy leaves the girl. True Tears had this kind of NTR as well as Cappuccino, where the guy cheats on the girl.

NTR is just losing your lover to another guy or girl be it by force or otherwise.

As for questing, NTR is a valid reaction of the girl in quests where there are multiple LI and the MC is focusing too much on one LI.

I don't think I'm overmoralizing, I'm just engaging in debate about the topic because I see it differently. Isn't that the point of these threads sometimes?

Anyway I did try to mention that it's not always rape, but yeah it was more of an aside than anything.

>>35577488
See this is what I mean. More or less. And even then I can roll with the evil motif of stealing the princess (or slut) and making her yours, but it's when the story makes us sympathize with the dude who loses out that it becomes something that loses me. Because then it stops being about the 'lol evulz' and more about deliberate evil winning against basically good, and that's not much fun. Okay, yeah, moralizing a bit much I guess.

it's not always good vs bad though. In a relationship who is bad and who is good?

What if the main guy is cheating on the girl? Does she still have to remain loyal to the guy? What if the girl never really liked the main guy? NTR is just one natural end to a relationship.

Isn't that why harems are so hated? Because it's an unrealistic portrayal of relationship. No girl will keep liking the guy when she is just one out of 5 girls he has in his harem.

well in the first place, NTR is specifically 'having your loved one stolen'. Leaving aside definitions for 'stolen', it suggests as plainly as possible that the idea is to be the one stolen from. And most of the stuff I've seen or read wit that theme asks us to identify with the person losing out. Now admittedly I'm hardly a connosieur of this material, but that's been my experience.

As a result of that and the fact that no one fully identifies as 'evil', it does imply that the 'good' loses out. And if not the 'good' per se, then the self. You're dragging in harem and role reversal to the typical ntr formula as if that alters the basic premise's inherent leanings.

NTR is NTR whether the guy or the girl is seduced/leaves willingly/just shows who they really are. And in both cases we're supposed to identify with the left behind person, hence the word itself. Now if we don't, if we identify with someone else or with multiple people or with no one, then it's not ntr, because from 'our' perspective, we're not stolen from. In those situations it's a different genre, dynamic or trope.

And disregarding the moral aspects of this discussion too, harem functions as another genre/trope: one wherein the viewer/reader typically identifies with the center of the harem and again they are therefore not having somethign 'stolen' from them.

NTR might be a more realistic portrayal of a real relationship sure, but so what? Harem might be ludicrously artificial but so what? All stories are artificial, and realistic elements CAN make us identify more with the struggles depicted, but more fantastical elements CAN be more uplifting. It all depends on the intent of the work.... I'm getting off topic aren't I?

On Akun it is preferred that you run quests in live sessions where you chat and update every 20 minutes. However if you can't post that quickly it is still fine to update your quest after a few days, it won't get deleted. Next time you go live your subscribers will be automatically notified so you can resume where you last left off.

Unnecessarily gigantic default font size. Holy shit, this is some straight up visual-impairment accessibility 18pt bullshit.

Live Stories page is broken as fuck. Sorting is useless while not browsing a board. Filters are useless always. "Upcoming Stories" aren't even organized chronologically. There's nowhere to actually view things at a glance: you're universally stuck with huge blocks of summary text and graphics, rather than there being anywhere to see a basic list, or failing that, a catalog view. There's no way to browse authors at all.

The chat window saves your page number globally, which means if you're reading back in chat for a quest, it will put you on that same page number when you visit another quest/board.

>>35579066
This hardly matters because in practice everyone uses the chat window for real-time discussion, and that requires you to go back through pages of chat windows clicking everything for timestamps to try and splice together a timeline of discussion.

Fuck, all they need to do is put a second button next to the "Comments" one under each update that contains the contents of the Chat window from that post's timestamp forward. That's literally it.

I'm getting pretty close to being ready to run the first session of the quest I was talking about last week. I think it was last week anyways.

I wanted some feedback on the map that I've got set up for the very beginning of the quest, though it is still missing some information that would only be known if you were familiar with or had gotten info about the area, such as the secessionist states on the West coast or pockets of demon, spirit, and monster/creature populations and civilizations, as well as frontier towns.

Anyways, the point is I'm wondering if it's half-way decent and if the little scribbles along it in an attempt to personalize it add to it or detract. Also yes, I know it's a roadmap and such, it's meant to be something that the MC found or was given at some point prior to the opening.

I dunno, to me the Red World seems like it's in some kind of post-apocalyptic state. It clearly has architecture and monuments, many of which appear to vastly ante-date the current conflict. If it really is some kind of borderland between the real world and whatever black hell lies beyond, I've always been under the impression that the Red World was destroyed in the first emergence of the black, and that the whole 'turning into Players' thing was somehow initiated/created/granted/learned/invented so people in the real world could go to the Red World to fight off the black.

Joker Quest is a gateway quest of the worst kind. It's a bad setting, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the quest itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the weapons, peculiar, colorful armors, the whole robot faggotry and everything about the Joker world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the quest make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Joker is basically THE quest to attract the most hated quest fanbase known to /tg/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this quest and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Joker threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

Eh. I think it has an interesting backstory and setting. That being said, I don't know anything about the various animu people say it draws inspiration from, so I can't gauge how much is derivation and how much inspiration.

What really gets to me though is the repetitiveness of the prose. JQOP has a stock list of adjectives and verbs for various things, some of which don't make sense, many of which are unnecessarily obtuse, and uses them haphazardly in order to provide variety. I get that spectacular robot fights are part of the quest's allure, but there are only so many times it is worth describing the Tau Gun as a 'blunt ingot'.

There's also only so many times I can read about someone canting their head to one side before I start feeling the urge to spam

Quest Thread General is a gateway general of the worst kind. It's a bad thread, a clusterfuck of shitposting and shitposting that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the general itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The tryhard shitposters all trying their hardest to look cool, the shitposts, peculiar, colorful language, the whole "quests are shit" faggotry and everything about the general fuels their critic fantasies, while the <quesIdon'tlike>fags, emphasis on shitting up quests if you don't like them, and overall preachiness of the general make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Quest Thread General is basically THE general to attract the most hated userbase known to /tg/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this general and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no QTGs ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

You can do both. There's such a thing as going live, which will tell anybody who's following you that you're 'going live'. You can also schedule times for when you're going live, and you can also update whenever you want.

>>35580333
The chat is on the side, and the proper way people vote is that you update with a 'reader choice'. There are a few options you can do with reader choices. Either you choose the prompts without any write-in choices, or you choose to let people exclusively write-in, or you can let people vote, and also write-in. They don't actually vote in the chat.

There is a problem with people in the chat talking about spoilers while other people haven't caught up- a pretty big issue.

You can set the main page to order quests by which one has been updated most recently, that way you'll only get active quests.

All the time. I've done entire tech-trees, then looked up at the clock and wondered where all of the time went.

It's because the Red world reflects the real-world architecture, and the city was devastated six years ago by a disaster. Even though people have rebuilt, the whole landscape is still very messed up and generally scarred.

There's basically all this new construction surrounded by all the old, ruined places that haven't been cleared out. Joker and a lot of other players find themselves wandering the 'old city' a lot.

Calling Texas the "Eastern" US is going to annoy people. Call them Free States or something.

The map's fine, just run the damned quest already, I'm getting tired of waiting on it!

RJ also lives in a real shithole. The Thief used to hide out in an abandoned block of flats, too.

Joker's apartment was nice until just recently. It's worth noting that the old city is a real shithole, but that's urban blight after a major disaster and aborted reconstruction effort, not post-apoc.

I don't even know what quest you're talking about, but I'm going to say it's a bad decision to use the U.S. as a setting at all.

What's 'No Man's Land' and the 'Undead Territory' anyways?
