I've played them a couple times and so far they've been really good. The nice thing is that they are pretty self sufficient and don't need buffs to get work done. Any buffs you give them just makes them even better.

Braylen is also really good and you don't necessarily take her for opportunist. She's just really good at running around and shooting things to death.

Last thing, while we got s bunch of really good shooting don't build your entire list around it. That's a trap and a melee heavy army or high arm well just sweep you off the table. Build for combined arms and use them to support your army

I know this isnt what you were asking but I had an idea for a janky assination list with either calandra or gunny. Essentially it involved two full units of highwayman and a war wagon. The wagon knocks down everything between the caster and the highwayman. Then the highwayman just pump 4 rat 15 pow 20s into the caster. Calandras probably better for this given that she can fix the odds. Gunny can through snipe into the mix. He can also bring dozer for artilerist and the boosted blast damage helps with clearing a lane.

This seems fine, I haven't run them with Gunny yet though. The only thing you want to avoid is building your list entirely around shooting. Trolls can bring a lot of guns but they hit things in melee way better

The Blitzer is supposed to be Dozer & Smigg.

The idea is to wombo combo the amount of blast templates and damage by casting Far Strike (snipe) and Bank shot on either Bomber or Dozer & Smigg. Gunnbjorns own Snipe would go on the other heavy that doesn't get the buffs, only to be switched out onto the Highwaymen once they get into potential range.

That, or, switch out Dozer&Smigg for a War wagon to trample all over them fools and have the bomber& highwaymen poop on them.

There's a reason every has an anti-cryx list, yeah but statistically they don't win that many tournaments. They have the tools to put on a good show, but they ain't circle, and after the nerfs gaspy is no Haley/Harbinger.

No faction is going to win all the time. It's futile to point out that Cryx does actually lose games to people whose mindset is already that you're demonseed for even fielding Cryx.

Is it bad that in my last game of Warmachine, against Goreshade and a Bane Train, I just let him get his invisible jacks into melee with some Invincibility/Defensive Line/Arcane Shield Sword Knights then Earthquaked them?

The rest of the game went a bit like that Chumbawumba song as Goreshade and his jacks would variously get Fire Beaconed/knocked down, then get back up again, while the Black 13th, a Charger and a Stormclad shot them repeatedly in the face. Electro-Leap and that pseudo-covering-fire the B13 have did for the waifu and then the big guy eventually died to a fully boosted POW 14 to the face.

On the other side of the battle, a fucked-up charge left the BANEZ within Assault range of some Stormblades, who dropped half a dozen or more POW12 AOEs on them at point blank, with +2 on damage rolls for effective POW14 hits/POW8 blast. One Bane survived that and was cut in half by a Lancer.

I don't mind playing against Cryx, but I do notice I have less fun wit the game when playing against them. My issue with Cryx is the fact that you HAVE to bring an anti Cryx list to a tournament. That's not how the faction should be countered or balanced. Making a hard skew list against a certain faction is not good game design. But I play Ret, so what the fuck do I know anyways.

I'm getting worried that I'm using the old "Earthquake into melee" as a crutch a bit, I need a new caster to not get in a rut of pStryker.

Currently I have:

Cygnar Battlebox
A Stormclad
Stormblades + UA
Sword Knights
Black 13
Journeyman

What caster should I get next based on owning those models? I'm currently looking at Kraye, Constance, one of the Caines or possibly just Stryker 2.

My other next purchases are going to be either another light jack, a unit of Gun Mages or Tempest Blazers or some solos.

I say we have lower win rates because people just follow net lists. Net lists are played often which leads to predictability which leads opposition to find hard counters to common tactics. Also, we have to spend about 20% of points on pure support just to get up and running.

Syntherion is an amazingly strong 'caster played in tier at 35 and 50, and you essentially play one of nearly every vector in the faction. Yes, the Prime Axiom is very, very good and will see play in nearly all of your lists.

The problem with Gargantuans is they run counter to the mechanics of Hordes: mainly, have as many fury batteries as reasonably possible and a wide variety of animi to choose from. Warmachine wants to spend as little focus as possible and get maximum value out of each focus, thus Colossals are generally a good investment.

Doesn't help that stats-wise the Gargs aren't that great anyway, compared to say Stormwall, Prime Axiom and Galleon

how much of which servitors should I aim to eventually have?

Will be building slow anyways though as I'm on a budget, but knowing what I should shoot for would be nice. I assume I'd want at least a few extras if I plan on running an Axiom down the road right?

The only real bad uni in the faction are Perforators.

However, first thing to learn about Convergence is to how to magnetize models.

Your warjack loadout is going to vary quite a bit caster to caster, so magnetizing the jacks is going to save you a fuckload of money in the long run.

You can magnetize the medium base infantry as well, which is super sweet to do not only to immensely reduce the load on your carrying case, but also helps quite a bit with things like having Reciprocators staying base to base when in shield wall.

Prime Axiom is pretty fucking solid, as far as Colossals go. It's by no way required, but Syntherion also makes it a monster.

The other thing to bring up is that caster choice in Convergence has an absolutely huge effect on how your army plays, Convergence doesn't really have any models that just do their own things besides the Battle Engine and it's not out yet.

If you're new to the game, this is what Cryx, Cygnar, and Circle players do.
"It's not Banes, and it doesn't make Banes better, so why should I give a fuck?!"
Two sentences away from...
"I want more unique undead stuff, I'm sick of all these other factions getting Cryxian themed stuff..."

Then with Cygnar it's...
"God, more POW 10 shots? Can't we just have a jack that has a POW 15 lightning jump that auto-hits six targets, ignores our own troops, can also wreck face in melee and somehow will never die because its defensive numbers break the curve with our Jr., so that we can stop using that basic thing in the Stormwall?"

Then Circle...
"We want wold-tech!"
...
"This wold-tech is not the specific wold-tech we wanted and even so is not as good as the wold-tech we wanted!"

Meanwhile pig players after Exigence;
"FUCK YEAH! Get on board with the new Shootin'-n'-Scootin' Porcine Paradigm!"

Seriously, Efaarit Scouts shoot-n-scoot. The Meat Thresher with the Road Hog shoots-n-scoots, then we've got Helga singing a bacon-themed ride of the Valkyries... Maximus was a little disappointing in that he does nothing for support, but really he's one of the most brutally nasty melee solos in the game, so, fuck it, the Porkreaver's in all my lists now...

It's a good fuckin' time to play bacon bitches...

Attunment Servitors are your first buy. They're easily the most useful of the four, and they're an army staple. Every list can find a room for them.

Reflex Servitors are your denial models, both to deal with weak infantry hordes and to focus on nasty power solos like Gorman and Eyriss. They're generally the best models to pop out of the PA turn by turn unless you need flare, as they provide better lane blocking then the other servitors and are threaten more models.

Elimination Servitors are your low DEF, high ARM single wound hunters. They're for killing things like Iron Fangs, Banes, and support models that aren't solos. They're of limited usefulness otherwise, though they threat freestrikes quite well against certain single wound models that depend on their ARM to save them.

Accretion Servitors are the least useful of the four, though they're not bad. They're good at contesting, Bodge is kind of funny, and Strip can have some funny uses from time to time. You can also use them to direct warcaster charges and cast spells afterwards, they're especially good for that. But they're the least powerful of the four in what they do, and you'll pretty much never pop them out of the PA.

Maximus supports your army by killing an entire flank himself.

Yea, optifex are pretty huge. You have to be looking for a reason to not bring them, and most lists are going to use two units.

Someone on the privateer press forums was asking for help designing an experimental Llaelese jack. How does this look for what was supposed to be the bleeding edge of Llaelese design (Since Llael still lacked super tech, I kept the actual technology involved pretty simple compared to major nations. Guns and Blades)

The Quickdraw is an experimental Llaelese warjack, designed just before the Khadoran invasion but never put into mass production. The Amethyst Rose Gunmage school had seen the effectiveness of the Arcane Tempest cross-training in jack marshaling and commissioned several arcane engineers, including a few Cygnaran Ex-Patriots to aid in the development of a 'jack that suited their style of combat. The Quickdraw was the result of this, though too late to aid in the defense of the nation. There is rumors that the prototypes are scattered about the country, aiding the resistance though if they are, there is no concrete reports.

Cost: 11650 GP (With Arcanum-Grade Cortex), 7650 (Chassis alone)

PHY 10 STR 10, SPD 5 AGI 4 PRW 4, POI 5 INT 3 PER 3 MAT 6 RAT 7 DEF 12 ARM 17

Damage Box: As Nomad

This statline assumes an Arcanum-Grade Cortex. It is a Nomad chassis with -1 PHY, -1 STR, -1 PRW, +1SPD, +1 AGI, +1 POI

The Chassis of the Quickdraw is based off the old standby of the Nomad, a frame that has served many years and is still solid. Many of the internal components around the joints have been replaced however with much more fine and dexterous ones, giving this 'jack a range of movement that is shocking for a warjack, let alone one of it's size. This did, however, cost the frame a little of it's raw power.

Bayonet:
Type: Melee
Location: Gun
Attack Modifier: 0
POW: 3
Special Rule: Bayonets have Reach.

Anonymous 2014-10-17 04:55:12 No.35578029
>>35578007

Dueling Cannon:
Ammo: 10
Effective Range: 72ft(12")
Extreme Range: 360ft
Attack Modifier: 0
POW: 15
Special Rules: Due to the slow rate of fire, the twin cannon can only be fired once per turn.

The weaponry of the Quickdraw in Unorthodox for a warjack, though very fitting for the nature of it's intended users. The hands of the warjack end in a pair of masterly crafted barrels, like that or a pair of massive handguns. Under said guns a pair of bayonets are mounted, just in case an opponent gets close. It's combination of weapons makes it a terrifying infighter where it can put it's very dexterous and agile servos to work.

Upgrades: All-Terrain Compensator, Gunslinger Servos, Duelist Reflex Array.

Gunslinger Servos:
Cost: 700gp

Description: Gunslinger servos are a combination of several different upgrades, all designed to aid in both agility and tracking ability of any 'warjack that is upgraded to include them. Fantastically expensive, they grant a warjack a tracking ability beyond that of many humans, an ability to carefully and calculatingly work out not only their own trajectories but the trajectories of others, allowing counter attacks before they are even assaulted. The increased range of motion allows the jack the ability to engage foes normally too close for the ponderous ranged weaponry of a warjack.

Special Rules: Gunslinger servos can only be installed on the Nomad Chassis. Any 'jack with them installed has the Quick Draw and Gunfighter rules.

Duelist Reflex Array:
Cost: 450gp

Description: The Duelist Reflex Array is a series of cortex grafts and optical enhancements designed to allow a warjack to function more dexterously in melee combat. It can read body language and stance like a veteran of dozens of duels, evading strikes with skill and finesse.

Special Rules: A warjack can only have one upgrade with 'Reflex Array' installed. A Warjack with a Duelist Reflex Array gains the duelist ability.

So right now the troll forums actually have a decent and postive thread going about tips and tricks that people might not know. Thought it would be a good idea to post it here and see what tg knows. Post what you've got. It can be faction specific or general.

Heres one from the troll forum: With a troll beast you can take a free strike, spawn a whelp, and then eat it immediately afterwards.

If you're using Gorman di Wulf and facing an opponent with Gorman too, you can Blind your own models after they've activated to stop them from being blinded by your opponent.

They still suffer the penalties, but the effect will wear off at the start of your next turn

So if I give a warcaster or warjack extra attacks after charging, do the extra attacks get the charging damage boost? Or just the first one?

Only the first melee attack after a successful charge movement made against the charge target is a charge attack and gets boosted damage.

You really want to get a Squire, or Sylys if you intend to toss Thunder Strike out often.

I'm surprised you don't already have them.
