Does anyone know if the NECA Alien is bootlegged? I bought one a few years back and managed to twist the hand off at the wrist, even after leaving it a good hour in the freezer. I fixed it for the most part with a dremel and a bit of plastic sprue so that it's not really noticeable, but I knew it was broken and its always bugged me.
Anyway, I finally decided to buy another one a few days back and ordered one off ebay, from a U.S. seller who hasn't done me wrong before, and at what I thought was a reasonable markup for an older toy that's no longer widely available. I chose to avoid the Chinese sellers for fear of knockoffs.
I got it today and the first thing that was off was the packaging. The front insert around the bottom wasn't for Alien, it was for Aliens, even though the rest of the package was correct. I figured maybe it was just a factory error, but after opening it and comparing it to my original figure it was obviously missing most of the paint apps. The subtle silver shading and thick glosss coat on the limbs and body is completely absent, it's just glossy black plastic. Other than the paint it appears to be exactly the same mould.
So... am I wrong to assume this is a bootleg? Or did NECA do a later run and just go "fuck the paint apps"? I know NECA issued the figure a couple times.

I need to talk to someone who has been buying modern Revoltechs (as in, released within the last few months).
I do not like Revolver joints, I feel like they're very limited in the angles and poses they allow. However, I heard a rumor that some newer Revoltechs have lighter and gentler ratcheting, so they don't click into place as hard, and you can do half-clicks, stuff like that. Is this true? And if so, is it only certain sizes of joints or releases that have the "softer" ratcheting?
Basically, there's an upcoming Revo I really want, but I've been burned so many times by the joints in the past. If Kaiyodo really has improved the things, I might be willing to give them another shot.
