Hi guys, I need some help So I'm 20 and I have done my first year at university majoring in mathematics with mostly passes. This year I was into second year and I found it pretty overwhelming along with other factors not related to uni. I withdrew from all my classes except one which I didn't pass. I took the second semester off and I haven't been working but trying to catch up on the gaps in my knowledge. I've always been interested in traveling and have entertained the idea of working in international politics and in an effort to get away from my current situation I would like to study overseas. I've studied languages outside of my major and have been fairly good at it and I was thinking of moving to a country where I would have the opportunity to learn. I'm also thinking about changing my major to economics or political science. Is this a realistic option or not? And if so, any information you guys might have would be really helpful. Also I don't have a preference for where exactly but I noticed the official languages of the UN are Arabic English French Chinese Russian Spanish

Hi /trv/, I'm gonna be tl;dr about this. I just graduated with an MBA in the UK. Yet I'm still struggling to find a job that doesn't need 15 years of blood sweat and tears just to be able to move up the infinite ladder. I have a cambridge qualification to teach english to adults (CELTA). I want to move out of this country and look for opportunities. I was thinking about teaching rich kids business english before they come here to study at our universities (they are all fucking rich). Where could I do something like this? What countries would you suggest? I don't want to teach english as a career, I just want to get started in a different country where things are still growing. tl;dr v2.0: i want to get out of dead-end UK and go somewhere exciting to work. I am white english male who speaks 3 languages fluently and in the process of learning another 2. What country would pay me well and need me? >pic related; i'm the guy in the middle

Right /trv/ I'm travelling to Barcelona for a week in mid October and I was wondering if you guys had any advice on where to go, what to see etc? I've never been to the city before so I'll likely do the touristy things but I love exploring cities and just wandering around places I've never been. Any experiences of the city? Any stories? Any suggestions? General Barcelona thread

Got a call for $18 an hour doing IT Technical work. From source to destination is almost 60 miles 1 hour 10 minutes. The traffic is pretty rough, I think I might turn it down. But if I do decide to take it, I might need an apartment that's closer to the job location. Would you travel that far for an $18 an hour job? My brother in law thinks i'm crazy lol.

So I'm about to have a huge chunk of money deposited into my account and I'm going to court next week to face a somewhat serious charge. I have no drivers license. Where should i go and by which means of travel? How far can i go? I'm losing my mind and the end of the trip will be suicide. Ideas?

Cheating while abroad

Hey /trv/ Ever cheated on your significant other while traveling? Is being abroad and far from home prone to lead you to adultery? Not only cheap prostitutes, but real affairs? How did it go? Would you do it again? Me, I just hooked up with an expat during my last stay abroad. We met through CL (ad was just looking for afterworks drink), had a few drinks and had a real nice, flirty time. I didn't tell I wasn't single. Met again the next day, ended having great sex. We kept in touch for a few days after I left, when I finally thought she at least deserved the truth. She called me a liar and said she'd never have met me if she knew. Thing is, I really liked her and have been 100% genuine with her, except on the "I am not single" bit. Would def do it again but not sure if I'd tell the truth right away. You?

I'm planning a trip to Spain this summer and I'll be spending some time in Valencia and Barcelona. When talking to locals, would they prefer pretty good Spanish or semi-decent Catalan? I know that almost everyone is bilingual there, so I'm not sure. I can maintain a Catalan conversation well enough to get by usually, but I'm more or less fluent in Spanish.

things to do in corfu

As the subject says, I've arrived in Corfu today and was wondering if any of you have suggestions of things to do. Im a 20 year old Brit going with my Dad (50s), Brother (early 20s), and step-Mum (50s), step-brother (mid 20s), and step-sister (mid 20s) to be if that helps. We have agreed that it's fine to do some things separately and split into groups, so we aren't restricted to doing things for everyone at once (though ideally we'd like to do the majority of activities together). Im very easy going and open to their suggestions, but they'd like me to pitch in some too (including things without them). I have none really. Any suggestions please? I'll try my best to answer questions within reason. Pic related: a nearby beach to our acomodation.

Traveling to Seoul and Tokyo with a couple of friends for about a month and was wondering if someone could tell me some cool places to visit/clubs to go to without blowing all of my money the first week. Also I've heard that it's somewhat easy for westerners to pick up, how true is that. Would like answers from people with experience preferably.

Hi trv. I want to talk about Chinese men. It's somehow related to traveling because this issue affects many people's impression about China. Also,i don't want to talk on int, racist scum. I live in China, i have a Chinese girlfriend, i am fluent in mandarin and i love many sides of China. BUT after more than three years, I'm fed up with Chinese men. Why do they have to be so disgusting? Earlier this week I wanted to do some exercise and went to the swimming pool. But I'm probably not going back because even IN A FUCKING pool they can't stop the spitting. They still clear their throat with that sound that makes me sicker and sicker each day and spit like 30centimetres off the edge of the pool, which is exactly the same as doing it inside because it just goes back in. What the fuck. Every aspect of them is annoying: the CONSTANT spitting ,the also constant smoking, the rudeness, their voice, their loudness, their drinking... Even when they are driving they need to do something obnoxious and honk all the fucking time. Of course there are some clean, polite educated Chinese men but the first ones are a majority. It's also funny how men and women are like day and night. Although they have their female equivalent (dirty, rude... ), these are a minority. They're usually clean, polite and much better about almost everything. Also related to traveling because these guys are going abroad more and more, ruining every travel experience of those around them.

Middle East

I am leaving late may of this year on a trip through eastern and central Asia and have arranged as far as Shanghai to Dubai and have a few concerns about my next steps. I had initially planned on going through Saudi Arabia and into Jordan. I recognize that Saudi Arabia is near impossible to get a visa for unless you are on the pilgrimage, but I may be able to get a 7 day transit visa which is enough time to make it to Jordan and still see a few sites along the way. My questions are >Is there a way to stay in Saudi Arabia longer? >What should I do in Jordan outside of the basic tourist areas such as Petra? >How complicated is it to travel from Jordan to Israel? Also general Central Asia/Middle East thread
