Hey, I've been been in this board before, so I'm sorry if I'm super annoying. Basically, I'm swedish, and I never had any goals or ambitions in my life before, but I decided I want to travel through USA and south america, to meet some people I know there and to see the world. I figure I must do this before I "settle down" and have a family and etc. I'm 27 now and my father did something like this when he was young, so I don't want to be any worse than him, it seems like it would be good for me also. I've travelled in USA before,, one vacation for 2 weeks, saw Chicago, Seattle, San Fran. I do have distant relatives there. So basically what I was thinking was flying to NY then going on a road trip with a bhutanese girl I know (she lives in NY and wants to go with me) through USA, living cheaply. Probably finishing at LA. Then we part ways, I travel down to Mexico City and meet someone I know there. Might stay for a week and live at her place, if she pays for food it's great you know? Then after that probably either go by train or fly down further south. The south american countries I want to visit are colombia, ecuador, peru, and argentina. Ecuador being #1 because I have a great friend who lives there, in guayaquil. Depending on the situation of my funds and what happens I might finish up and fly home after going through a couple countries, I'm not sure. Thoughts? Do you think 15-20k USD will be enough? I'm not a retard so I know a lot of the dangers of traveling alone, I'm confident I can manage on my own, I intend to sharpen my spanish before going as well. I also intend to plan this in great detail before going, so I know with some exactness what I will do each step and what my money situation will be like etc.

Which trips do you regret ever doing? As awful as it sounds, I'm not having any fun at Prague.

A friend of mine somehow convinced me to switch my duty station to Alaska (apparently, we get more money that way) A couple of questions; >How much higher are the prices for food compared to the US? I powerlift (I dont compete) so I require a lot of food, especially protein (ground beef and chicken breast mainly) >I usually hate small towns, but how is Fairbanks? Does it rock or does it suck? >Other than lifting, working, hunting and playing WoW what else can I do in Alaska? >How would an Asian guy get treated over there? >Did I dun goof'd?

Aloha /trv/. I'm a young German fellow and I am planning to become a drifter. A hobo, a vagabond, a wanderer, call it what you want, but I'm hellbent on doing it. I believe that I will leave my home behind in a few months, if everything goes as planned. I am looking for advice on anything, recommendations of places to visit, simply your thoughts on my plans or questions. >Pic very related.

Hitchhiking through Europe

Hey /trv/ me and my friend are planning a trip from Finland to somewhere in the Mediterranean and maybe even beyond. Now the catch is that we want to do most of our travelling by hitchhiking and maybe train hopping. We have about 2 months of time to travel and a budget of about 1500€, though we can increase the budget if necessary. Now I have some questions: - Is hitchhiking and train hopping even possible in Europe? - What places should we visit? You can pretty much name any place as long as it’s in the EU-area or in the North Africa. - What stuff/gear should we take with us.

xmas in South America

Hey /trv/, I need ideas of what to do on Christmas holidays in South America. I am based in Santiago, but I'd consider travelling say withing 4k km from here. As you know, SA countries are rather traditional, so I expect everything to be closed, and cities to be boring. Still private services in top tourist destinations should be functioning. So I'm looking to get away from Santiago for 4-5 days. Requirements: - must be doable in 4-5 days total from Santiago - must be functioning over Christmas - roughly within 4k km from Santiago Examples of what I'd consider: - Torres del Paine (would be perfect, but I've been there) - Salar de Uyuni (is good, but I'm tired of having altitude sickness and I won't be able to do it in 4-5 days total if I allow time for acclimatisation) -.... your ideas?

Hey, travel. I keep thinking about traveling around the world and most of the time I keep coming to the realization that I need a bachelors degree to live and work in other countries [though there are illegal ways, if anyone has any experience with this around south asia than let me know] Anyways, I am an american and I took a look at our common wealth territories. I was wondering if anyone had experience here since I can not find very much on it. Is there any work for an American there? Such as teaching english like you'd do at another country? Thanks for any advice.

I'm considering a student exchange program. My university has partnership with many ones abroad, so I can choose between lots of countries. I was thinking about Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Scotland, USA or Australia. What do you think, /trv/?

Hello /trv/, I have spent my whole life living in the United States but have not traveled much due to my parents not having enough money. I want to go stay in a couple cities for months at a time so I can really get the feel of them and see where I want to locate, but I don't have enough money to rent a full studio apartment to myself. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good way to find people to share rooms with? The ads on craigslist generally seem undesirable and just people looking for sex.

Hey /trv/, Tell us some of your scariest/hilarious airplane related stories here. I'll start. I was stuck in San Francisco for a flight to Korea and the flight got delayed. The PA comes on and says that the plane had a bird strike and is removing the dead bird from the engine.. 4 hrs later I took that plane over the pacific.
