Hello, Australian here. I'm thinking of moving to Canada to work for a while (pretty cliched for an Aussie, i know) and I was just wondering what the usual steps are for when you get there? Like you save a bit of money here in Aus, then go there, get a job, travel a bit, get another job etc. Is that the basic plan? Please share advice, stories and whatnot. Thanks.

Minneapolis at New Years

A few friends and I are going to road trip up to Minneapolis for New Years. Expecting cold conditions and memories lost to drinking. Trip length is up in the air (1 night to 4 nights), I've been to Minneapolis a few times, but looking for some fun things to do that four people late 20's early 30's would have fun doing, especially during the days, but nighttime suggestions welcomed. Anyone have any experience, I know Stillwater has a pretty good night life for the "drink while chatting" types, I suspect the two girls in our group would like some good dancing type places too. Suggestions welcomed!

American Accents

I'm just curious which American accents non-Americans like the most and dislike the most. Southern accent, Manhattan accent, Midwestern accent, the clean accent that could easily be mistaken for Canadian or some of the less known accents.

So I'd like to visit Los Angeles for a week or two in 2015. Is public transportation there any good, or would I be better off getting a rental car to travel from place to place? I'm also guessing every hotel will be expensive no matter where I go. Anyone else have experiences they could share about traveling to LA?

I just got back from Brussels, here is the highlight of my trip >Sitting in grand platz with my brother >order calamari >14.50 euro for ~7 precooked rings and a small ramekin of samourai >Gypsy walks up with her kid >both look like they have never bathed, hair frizzy and disqusting >She points at my plate and at her kid >I look at her for a second >she does it two more times in rapid succession >I say 'no, fuck off' >she points again >'no, fuck off' >She walks away muttering curse words at me Why are gypsies so fucking terrible?

I'm going to Seattle next month, staying for 5 days. I've been wanting to go for years now. Just bought my tickets. I'm gonna stay on a hostel, I'm on a very tight budget(I'll probably be eating tuna everyday). Any advice will be greatly appreciated, like, how to get around, areas to avoid, areas to visit, bars and whatnot.

Are any of you familiar with Chicago? I'll be making a trip through there soon and was wondering what's cool to do. I'm an art student from TN if it matters. Pic semi related. She's a model based out of Chicago.

Johannesburg to Great Zimbabwe

So I'm planning a family trip, a tour booked through South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland, that ends in Johannesburg. Are there any tours that start in Johannesburg taking you to Great Zimbabwe? I'd rather take a bus from where our first tour ends directly there, in stead of flying to Harare and booking a tour there, then flying back. Also, anyone ever been? How was it?

I am yearning to take some time off of school because I would love to travel to Latin America. BUT I need money first. I am currently enrolled in school but the semester is almost over and I am not planning to pick classes for next semester. I am looking for a job at the moment as well. How long did it take you to save up money? Did you choose to go back to school? Did you work abroad? Tell me everything about your first time traveling abroad on your own.

Airfare, flightfox, OZ WHV

'Sup /trv/, First off, I love you guys. I'm visiting my folks in Toronto and I was wondering if you knew of any ways to get back to Oz. I'm by no means asking for help with finding a ticket - I'm just wondering if you think what I've found is the best that's probably out there. I'm usually really good at finding flights, but the best that I could find (one way) was $1026. That's by booking separate legs from YYZ-HNL, then HNL-SYD. It has to be before New Year's and after Christmas; so I know that it's not really the best place but pretty good considering that flights can be as much as 3000 on that same week. I've tried routes through KUL, BKK, and even HKG. Do you guys have any more suggestions before I pull the trigger on this one? Have any of you had experience with flightfox? It matches you with an expert who tries to find you a cheap route. I imagine he/she would just basically be doing what I just did, though. Also, feel free to ask me about the WHV there if you want. I lived in Melbourne and did a bit of the east coast before that. I made about 17k in the 5 months that I was there. pic related - it's one of my favourite pictures from my last trip (taken in Philippines

I don't yet have all the details about the trip, so her all I know at the moment. > I'm an intern in a IT company > I will stay on the west side near the German border, in a city. > I will be given an apartment in downtown So my main questions are: > Are there a lot of people who can speak English > How are the weed prices > How expensive are cigarettes > Something interesting to do in western Poland > Add as much personal experiences and recommendations as possible

Iceland in the winter

Hey /trv, I'm going to Iceland with a friend in early January for about 10 days. Planning on renting a car, trying to plan out routes right now. It being winter, is planning on circling the ring road a good idea? Anyone got recommendations of must-do stuff that isn't on a tourist guide (not Reykjavik, glaciers, volcanoes, northern lights, geysers)?

Guys, i need your advices. In january i want to take my old parents to some nice and warm place for a week or 10 days. They are from eastern Europe, where it is now cold and dark. They have not traveled anywhere in their entire lives. All they saw in their lifes was powerty and hard work.I was thinking about something Mediterranean. Googled Crete and it looks like it has nice nature. Mountains, beaches and ruines to look at. Has any of you ever been in Crete ? Is it even a tourist season there now. What's the weather in January down there ? Or maybe i should pick a different place ? Maybe Turkey or even Egypt ? Spend couple days relaxin in Sharm, then see Giza Pyramids and stuff ? I have not traveled my self, so i have no idea where should i take them.

Sup /trv/ First time poster here. Need some recommendations from you guys if you got any. Past few years I've been getting really fucking fed up with Christmas. I can't stand half my family, I hate having to spend money on people I don't like and I dislike having to spend time with them even more so. So I figured, why bother spending my money on those guys when I can just fuck off out of the country for a few days? So I'm wondering if you guys know of any locations around the world that'd be good to go to around Christmas time that are fairly cheap were I can just forget about the whole damn holiday, have a few beers, see some nice things and relax on my own? If you know any places around Europe that'd be great but Anywhere globally would be great
