I want to motorbike in Vietnam because I'm suicidal. However I don't want my bike getting ripped off by cops so I want my paperwork all in order before I hit a landmine and die. Do I need a motorcycle license in the states to get one of those stupid Vietnamese permits or do I just need an international license?

Is it a good idea to travel solo if you have severe social anxiety? It might be a stupid question, but I just don't know what to do. I really want to do something with my life, you know, go out, explore the world, meet people. But that last part is what really terrifies me. I'm afraid that if I do end up going to some foreign country, I'll pretty much just sit inside and shitpost on 4chan all day, and in that case I don't know if there's any point in travelling in the first place, since I can sit inside much more comfortably at home. Meeting people is completely impossible for me in my home country due to the anxiety and a general lack of social skills, and I wonder whether this would be different at all in a foreign country. At first glance it seems more difficult because of the language barrier, cultural differences, etc, but on the other hand maybe the whole culture shock and change of scenery would be beneficial in some ways. That's the thing I'd like to know, is it easier to meet people and make friends while travelling? And is there any point in travelling if you stay completely alone all the time and avoid meeting people? I'd especially like to hear about the experiences of other travellers with social anxiety. One thing to consider is that I'd most likely avoid hostels and instead prefer to book apartments through sites like airbnb, because sharing rooms with other people would be way too stressful. I guess there are some opportunities to meet people outside of hostels, but realistically, I'd probably end up being by myself most of the time. So yeah, am I completely retarded for even considering travel in my current situation? Should I wait until I get my shit together before doing this? I really want to travel, but I fear it might end up being disappointing because of my fucked up mind...

Hey /trv/, so im driving to california from georgia in a month and i want to plan out my route one step at a time. Anyone ever had any experience with road-trips? How do i conserve as much gas as possible? Its a one way trip because i'm moving. So far, it looks like i'll be driving through Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and finally my destination at Ventura county, but if they're better alternatives, i'd love to hear it

travelling in Asia vaguely towards Australia

So I'm teaching in China for a month this summer and afterwards I was going to travel down to Australia to visit some friends, with budget and time for about two months of travel incl. some time in Aus. I suppose it would make sense to go to SEA and Malaysia but I'm also a bit tempted to maybe detour to India and/or nearby countries. Any suggestions for the region in general? Must see places, should avoid places, cool experiences etc.

Teaching English Overseas

Hey /trv/ General TEFL thread. I'm yet another special snowflake teaching English overseas. At first I was focused on Korea for the financial opportunities but after doing some more research I decided on China. I got offered a contract for 10,000 RMB with a free apartment(or 3000 housing allowance) in Beijing. I'll be leaving February 25. I will be training for two weeks before I actually start teaching but I was curious if anyone had some insight on how much money to bring with me to survive the first month. I get paid on the 10th of every month so I need to survive at least one month with my own money. Any other tips or advice on how to not get completed screwed is greatly appreciated.

Ideal US city

Not sure if this is the right board, but fuck it. I'm looking to relocate to a new city after I get my MBA. My criteria, in order of importance: >not extremely high cost of living >relatively low crime rate >has a large body of water near it - ocean, lake, river, etc., AND nice nature, beautiful views. So I can have either a home on the water or a home with a beautiful view of some type of plains or mountains or something >warm all-year round, if possible, not a big deal to me (I'm fine with cold winters, but I plan on marrying my current gf and she always bitches when I mention any city in the northern half of the US, but if I'm paying for it she can shut the fuck up) Thanks /trv/, I plan on lurking here more often

some friends are planning a trip across europe and plan to stop off in Dortmund for a week, anyone know of any good pastimes, apparently there is a zoo, and probably some pubs, but beyond that they are lost for things to do so I thought it best to ask the most worldly people I'm aware of

>Oh, look, another San Francisco thread No, seriously though, I couldn't find a related thread to ask in. So here I am. What are some things to do in SF at night that is relatively safe to go to? I was going to go to a Giants game but I went last year so I don't really want to repeat myself, despite how much I enjoyed it. I'm really not fussed on nightclubs or whatever, but I'll listen to any suggestions. I just don't want to be sitting in my hotel room from 7pm because it's dark.

Russia. I've wanted to visit before (travelled internationally before, so not the first time), but with the low ruble, now seems a decent time. Anyone travelled there before? Any general experiences, advice, or stories?

racist pricing

How do you feel about overcharging foreigners officially? The prime example is the difference between local/foreigner price to Taj Mahal. Something like 2/700 rupee. Same crap happens in most of Africa. I hate that. Spent 3 months in Egypt and did not enter any of these paid archeological sites exactly because bastards wanted to charge me 5× more than a local. Gave in only once, at Vic Falls in Zimbabwe, and paid $40 instead of $10. What do you think about starting to charge Africans and Indians 5× higher prices in Europe?

Hello, I've always loved animals and nature and I enjoy hiking as well. When travelling, beautiful nature and wildlife is one thing I value highly. Therefore I would like you to recommend me some countries with spectacular nature and good options for observing wildlife. If it makes it easier to make suggestions, I've visited Costa Rica, and that was excellent for what I have in mind, although a bit touristy and expensive. I am not really into the classical safari experience though.
