Flying with a (mini) desktop computer in your luggage. Does anyone have experience with this? I work abroad and recently moved for the third time within a year. I will move again during 2015 and possibly it will continue like this. I've had a high end laptop for the last two years but the graphics card just is not enough. So I've been looking at mini desktops that possibly could fit in the cabin luggage. However the weight would surely surpass what's allowed. I've also looked at shipping things while relocating but it seems too expensive and or dangerous considering the fragile components. I doubt there are many that has this problem, but maybe there's some expat that solved this? I'm thankful for any suggestions

I have been living in Tokyo for a long time, and started a travel video channel just after the earthquake in 2011. So, why show some of your favourite travel videos. This is the last one we did in Saigon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4wcdn58DW8

Hey /trv/, I’m looking for some general advice. I know vague questions are dreaded here, so I’ll try my best to give some details. I’m also browsing some of the other current threads for ideas. Compared to some of the people here, I’m not that well-traveled, but I’ve been around Europe some (Germany, France, Denmark, Czech Republic, Austria, Luxembourg). Usually I travel by myself or with a friend, but I’m going with my girlfriend this summer. The furthest she’s been from home is a neighboring U.S. state, so I’d really like for her to get to see some things and have a great experience. The thing is, she’s not really sure of any specific places she would like to go and a lot of the choice is going to come down to me. Summer is only a few months away and I’d like to get a plan down. The only thing for sure is what I put in red on the map: Leipzig, Berlin, and Hamburg. I’m hoping for two and a half to three weeks for the trip; I’m hoping to do those three cities in 9 days or so. That leaves anywhere from 9 to 12 days for us to do something else. I’d love to get some input on what people think may be a good route in addition. Obviously, some interesting places, but which would also work with the time frame we have (enough time to go see things and get there from Germany). A bit vague, but main thing would be cities with good ‘old towns’, nice older architecture, very pedestrian friendly. Small towns with good natural scenery would be great too. I’m not opposed to revisiting countries I’ve been to before and seeing more of them.

Anyone who's lived in, or presently lives in Philadelphia here? How easy is it to quickly find work, or is it fairly saturated? I'm used to flying blind, but I'd like to know a bit in advance. I'm going to show up there soon, with more or less no money and very little food. Need a response in the next... 6-8 hours or so. After that, might as well ignore the thread and let it die. Thanks.

What the fuck is up with Airfare? I am looking for a short (weekish) vacation for my wife and I this summer and the prices are insane, considering the price of oil has reached record lows. Below rates are for the middle of june for 1 week >IAD-DME 600ish >IAD-LON 900ish >IAD-CDG 800ish >IAD-TXL 800ish >IAD-IST 1000ish Why are prices so high? 2 years ago I flew from IAD to PVG for 900 round trip. I would think that given the fact that Europe is closer, these are popular flights and that oil is cheaper that the prices would be cheaper. >what gives?

Can you live in a music studio? I found music studios in cities that rent by the month and it says they include 24 hour access and they have bathrooms and stuff. What could possibly go wrong with this?

Went to San Diego last May and going again in the first week of June and need some recommendations for different things to do. Staying in Coronado and cabbing everywhere so things like Seaworld are a little far. My first time around I did a Padres game, the USS Midway, the Zoo, La Jolla for a little bit, few of my favorite breweries (Stone and Green Flash), various downtown walking around things, and some good eating spots (Phil's BBQ and some other stuff). Any recommendations to change it up this time around?

Okay so. I am in need of input, advice, and personal experiences. My partner and best friend lives in California. I live in Florida, and have a chronic illness. Due to this I haven't been able to get a job or disability despite fighting for both. I am dead set on going to California in the fall, and have saved up a good bit of money specifically for this, as well as food, gas, emergencies, ect. However actually getting there is my main issue. I can take a plane (as I've been all over the place via plane, so I know what to expect.) I can take a train out of Atlanta (however I've never done this and am kind of nervous about it.) Or I can...buy an inexpensive RV with plenty of miles left on it (people nearly give these buggers away sometimes since folks are croaking 24/7 and many of them aren't new, expensive or perfect) However this is both the most expensive route and the most likely to land me stranded somewhere if the machine has issues, however it also gives me more freedom as to owning my own sleep place-so I can take my time and go where I want to go between places. OR I can try to hitch a ride with someone going that way and just wing the fuck out of it. My issues in order are 1) cash money, or the total I'll need to save to be able to do this entirely on my own, since I'll be getting no support to do it. 2) safety, because I have maybe three people who GAF and don't feel like being harvested for the organs I have even if they don't always work right, driving into gang territory without knowing it, being mugged for what little money I can scrape up, ect. and 3) taking care of my dietary and medical needs in the duration of the trip. This is mostly just not going into situations where I know I will be incredibly stressed. Any and all help will be incredibly appreciated! These are just things I've thought up, but I'm happy to listen to alternatives as well.

I am going on road/railroad trip to the US in the end of may/start of june. I am traveling with my family(youngest is 17). We are starting in Springfield, Missouri, and probably we will end up in San Francisco. The only thing that is sure is the starting point, because we are visiting some friends there. I was hoping for some tips from some americans or people who have traveled in america, and maybe you could answear some of my many questions. Which way ( through which states, where to stop etc.) would you reccommend taking from Missouri too California? Are there anything we should experience on the way? Do you recommend train or to rent car? Is it safe to drive/use train in this part of the US?(im sorry if that was a stupid question) Is San Francisco worth visiting? And what about Grand Canyon? Are there any "tourist attractions" we should avoid? I also got a real passion for beer, and the amount of american beer is pretty bad in Norway. Are there any local(or national) beers from the travel route i should try? Any really good beers from Missouri, California, or the other states we are going to travel trough? Hoping for some advices:)

I posted this on int, but I want to increase my chances of actually getting a reply ATTENTION IRISH PEOPLE Now that I have your attention, I was looking for some insite on your beautiful country! First question I had is: Do you think it is "easy" to live off original music in Ireland? Specifically Dublin? Do band member often have part-times or, if they can garner a fair amount of success, can they manage to survive only buy playing gigs? What about outter connections? Is it easy for a band to tour England? Do they need to do so, or does the modern music industry in Ireland is strong enough to launch new acts internationally? I would deeply appreciate your answers to this question! By the way, I'm also looking for one who's alias is Roorah, I was told he lurks round here. I was also told he was attending BIMM Dublin. I am currently signing up for that same school, but I'd like to ask him a few more questions. Thank you very much! Greetings from Portugal :) pic unrelated, used only for b8

Dear /trv/, As a born-again single I'm asking you for advice where to go to clean up my head and relax a little. I want do spend days on trekking/wandering/sightseeing. Superficial things, not much exploring of local culture, as I'm too tired for that ATM. Good food would be nice. Also I'd love to have some company in the evenings, so hostels. Meeting grills would be the best, but won't protest against pub crawl with dudes. It also should be quite cheap country, enough for EastEurofag, so better not west. I was thinking Morocco, but this is exactly the last place I visited with my ex.
