It was basically exactly like pic related Anyone been on trips like that? You can ask me any questions too if you want

I can work for 2 months anywhere in the world doing medicine (elective period as a med student). I'm currently leaning toward NZ: pros are it being a useful learning experience and hiring a car and just driving for weeks to see the amazing scenery but it's a bit similar to home (UK) for my liking. My other side wants to go to India and experience some grinding poverty to make me less of a whiny bitch back home. I'm torn right now, I guess I just want experiences from either for travelling and general advice on whether I should take this chance to experience the developing world while I'm still young.

I'm flying from London to Shanghai in the summer, with an 18 hour stop over in Finland on the way there (the cheapest way the flights work out). Is it legal to leave the airport and have a look around? I'm British.

Racism in Croatia

I'm pretty sure I've just been on /pol/ just a tad too long, but it seems to be that Europeans really don't want Muslims in their country (also from what I've seen in the news). I'm Latino, but I look Indian/ middle eastern. Will this make it harder for me to get an English teaching job in Croatia? Where should I teach and how tall are the women there? INB4 5'6 manlet, but not insecure just curious

What do you guys wear on your feet backpacking? I am heading to South America (Colombia, Equador, Peru, Bolivia) for 2 months starting end-June (their winter). Will be at both extreme elevations with rocky trails and beaches at sea-level. Pic is of NB 1569 (left) and 1069 (right). Weights are 15oz (0.94lb) and 16.9oz (1.01lb) respectively. What do you rock? Not looking for god-tier footwear but do you think one of these will fit my needs? Any preference over the other? Also wondering what complimentary footwear to bring. Will definitely have flip-flop style sandals for hostel showers and beaches/wet landings but should I bring something else? I am also considering a teva-style strapped sandal for light hiking but 3 pairs just seems like too much to be taking. What do ye experts say?

Francophonic Africa

Hello /trv/, I feel it might be necessary to preface this by telling you that I have never been out of the country (USA), am a 22 year old white male, and must adhere to a special diet free of animal products because of a metabolic disorder. These may be facts that become a useful tool while you are crafting your well-thought out replies for which I will be eternally grateful. I am learning French, and at my current pace I will have a good command of the language by year's end. I have arrangements to go to Japan mid-March, so I have a two and a half month void with which I would like to explore some countries in Africa that are of La Francophonie. I have two rough routes that I'm considering, and I am hopeful that /trv/ can, in its infinite wisdom, help me make an informed decision between them, and maybe even offer additional advice beyond that end. Tldr; which route do I take? West Africa?

what state should i begin my journey in?

sup /trv/ Me and three friends are visiting New Orleans for a couple of days in the beginning of June! What should we do? What should we don't? What should we see? Where should we go? I've also been reading a lot about crime and bad neighborhoods since I'm a coward, and it seems pretty bad. Do any of you have any experience of this and tips for how to stay safe? Specific to New Orleans, I mean. thanks bros

LA or SD?

Hey /trv/, anyone from SoCal here? I'm going to California for college and I can choose from two cities: San Diego or LA. When I ask people they say either one is shit or amazing. I guess I'm looking for the one with the hottest/sunniest weather, best beaches, nicest people, most fun, etc. If you live in either city please tell me what it's like or what you would recommend! I've also created a poll: http://strawpoll.me/4251074 Thanks!

Hello Has anyone here ever been or known anyone who was an Au Pair? I've registered with multiple sites and have received many offers since male au pairs are in demand apparently. I have two good friends who went to France (I am American) and Spain for a year and two year, respectively, and they said it was fantastic. Anyone have any other personal anecdotes or knowledge on this subject? Thank you, anons.

Hi /Trv/ I'm currently in Seoul, I've been here for 2 months with 2 left. I'm having a pretty good time, since I'm on student exchange and managing my business from here I have a plenty of spare time. The issue is that I'm at the point where I'm getting a bit bored. I don't have anyone I really know over here, and probably am a bit old to get along with most of the other students (I'm 25). Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to feel my spare days/ nights who lives in Seoul or has lived here?

SE Asia Visas

9 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hi all. I'm travelling around SE Asia in the summer and I have a couple of visa questions. My itinerary is as follows: Thailand (no visa required) Vietnam (arrival by flight) Cambodia (arrival by coach) Burma (arrival by flight) Laos (arrival by coach) I'm planning on applying for my Burma and Cambodia visas online. WIll I have any trouble if I buy a Cambodia visa online then travel over the border on a coach (hopefully through Bavet)? Then it seems the easiest thing for obtaining visas for Laos and Vietnam is to buy them on arrival. How long will it take to buy a visa on arrival at an airport in Vietnam? And will I be okay to buy a visa on arrival when I cross the border to Laos from Burma via coach? I've looked up a lot of this online, but much of the information is conflicting and confusing - so any help from people who have been in a similar situation would be great. Thanks!
