I really want to visit the Middle East, but only the nice decent countries such as Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon and Jordan. What are the places I must definitely go to? What are some good underrated places? What areas should I avoid? What local food should I try out? Which cities have the best night life?

I'll be in NYC in 10 days

Hello fellas, I'll be in Manhattan in 10 days for a week and I need some advice. I've been there before, so I've seen the most famous stuff. I'm staying next to the Rockefeller Center. What I need to know is: 1 - Where can I watch the UFC (May 23th card)? 2 - Are there any good nightclubs that are not ridiculously expensive?

Which city, /trv/?

Hey, /trv/. I'm currently applying for City Year (partner/branch with Americorps). I just don't know where I would want to be "stationed". The duration is a year, take a little. Background about me: From farmland BFE in Ohio. Spent 3 years in Cincinnati for university and a year in the Netherlands for university. I've been to D.C. and New York City, loved them both. I've also been to Columbus and Cleveland a lot, so there's familiarity with those two. I like the "big city" atmosphere. I've traveled to other bigger cities too in the South, but for some reason I'm not a fan. I also hate the heat. 85 in Ohio today and I'm already wanting to tap out for the summer. The West Coast only interested me for Seattle. For some reason from TV shows about traveling and just other general shows set in Seattle, it looks pretty cool. But I wouldn't want to bank on Seattle and then get stuck in Sacramento or some suburb outside of LA. So, if any of you live in these cities, can you give me some insight as to what it's like to live there? The ones I'm considering are: Philly Milwaukee Boston Chicago Cleveland New York Columbus Detroit D.C. These are region specific. So if I were to select Midwest, I would get to choose from the Midwest cities available or the Mid-Atlantic, the respective cities. If you can give any insight, it's very much appreciated. I'm stuck on the Midwest, because Chicago seems like a great city and if I were to get Columbus or Cleveland I would be close to home and my friends; Milwaukee seems like a drag though. I'm stuck on the Mid-Atlantic because I'm a history nerd and love food so Philly, D.C., and New York are all at the top of my list, however they might throw Columbia, S.C. into that group too. Any insight at all is much appreciated.

Has anyone here traveled to Afghanistan recently? Particularly Americans/Canadians?

First Timer

This is a poster that I found on here one time. But the image size was way too small and for the life of me could not find it again anywhere. So I re-created it from scratch (I made a couple changes, but for the most part it's the same. Also, i had to make the file size smaller to fit here, original is massive) Anyway, after making it, I really now have to urge to actually go out there and explore the world and shit. What's some cool places to start? I really want to backpack Europe, so any thoughts on that. I'm just a 19 year old New Jersey kid that wants to explore the world.

So I'm traveling a thousand miles to move from Minnesota to Philadelphia in a few weeks, and between the day I depart and when I'll be able to move into my new apartment will be seven days in which I'll have to live on the road/in my pickup/camping. I'm forgoing hotels because I'm cheap and looking to make an adventure of it. Any advice? Namely in regard to sustenance: I'm looking for cheap things I can purchase and store for an elongated period of time at room temperature that are nutritious and high in calories and protein, if possible. Also, anywhere is there anywhere in particular that I should stop and check out (along I-80/76?)

Teaching English in China!

I never really considered teaching English in Asia, but a good buddy of mine is teaching in Taiyuan, China and said there's a open position and can land me the job guaranteed. I don't have any English degree, but he said it's enough to be white and a native speaker. The pay is 8000 RMB/mo and I get a free apartment. I can quit with 2 months notice. Should I do this? I have a few days to decide and I'm not bound to anything in my country so I can go but I'm not sure if I should. It sounds like a once in a lifetime thing though. My buddy is there so I know it's legit and I'd have someone for support.

If the British election results go as expected I'm going to move after I graduate. What should I do to prepare in the 2 years I have to get ready and where should I go? Considering Canada, Japan and Bulgaria all for vastly different reasons and because I clearly have not thought this through.

Traveling alone

I will never experience any kind of travel greatness because I have no friends and no girlfriend to travel with. No one to enjoy the sights with. No one to have experiences with. The only trips I have gone on have been with my parents as a kid and a few in later years (late teens to early 20s) and they are absolutely humiliating knowing that NO ONE my age travels with their parents, they all have tons of friends and everyone is rich and they all travel together And then I'm sure you'll all respond "just travel alone it's easy!!!" but if it's so easy, why is "solo-traveling" such a unique idea that whole philosophies are made about traveling solo?

Flight Advice

Hello there /trv/, I'm planning a vacation to the Isle of Man. Specifically I'm heading there for the TT, next year. I figure now is the best time to start planning. I've done some cursory research at this point, but I want to know a little more. How do I get some cheap flights to the IOM during the time where it'll be the busiest? What are my best ways of searching for deals? It seems that flight bookings only go out to April of 2016. Would my best bet be to wait until they become available?

How do any of you get on a plane knowing at any time you could plummet to your doom? I can't think of anything more terrifying.

Hey /trv/ - i'm beginning my biggest journey yet in about 11-12 days! And i'm very excited about thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail, I'm curious to see if any fellow 4channers have joined the 2000 miler club, or have any stories, or basically anything you wanna tell someone who's about to spend 7-8 months on the biggest adventure of their life (so far)!

Fukushima Tours?

2 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
On the off chance I go to Japan soon, how would I go about getting a drive-through tour of Fukushima? I really don't want to get out of the car, just pass through quickly with a camera and record it. But is anyone doing this officially? We'd be arriving by train from Tokyo, so would we just hail a cab and ask to the exclusion zone or stop off at a makeshift memorial?

I've lived in stupid, boring, Toledo my entire life, and I'm looking to escape from Ohio entirely within the year. I've heard a lot of good things about Charlotte, North Carolina. Is it easy to find a cheap apartment in the area? I want to move as soon as possible and get out of this state.

Destinations in Arabia

I am interested in visiting Arabia but what are the best destinations there? Most importantly many of the most interesting cities are currently too insecure for my taste (Baghdad, Damascus,...) and some of the secure ones have zero history to show as far as I can tell (Dubai). I already have been to the south of Egypt but it still would be a contender.

Ljubljana to Hamburg

1 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hey guys, Sorry for making a new thread, but I'm out of ideas and I've racked my brain. How the fuck can I get from Ljubljana to Hamburg? Planes are like 150 to leave around May 31 and I would even have to leave from Venice. Just so this thread isn't completely useless, I also found a loophole for Canadians and Australians (and a bunch of other countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and USA.) to stay in Europe for 6 months, visa free. You can be in Schengen for 3 months and then get another 3 months in the Nordic countries. So fucking happy right now because I was going through the motions to get a Swedihs chick to sponsor me lol

New Zealand Thread

/trv/ I'm planing a short holiday to the North Island at the end of October. I have a problem and I seek advise here's the scenario. I've decided on the sights I'd like to see. My trip has to be bookended with Auckland and Wellington. The middle can be rearranged, to get the most logical and time efficient route. 1-2 nights in Auckland Hot water beach Hobbiton Movie Set Waitomo Caves 1 night Rotorua Geothermal sites Taupo Huka falls, Orakei Korako Cave and Thermal Park 1 day Tongariro National Park, New Zealand Tongariro Alpine Crossing 1 night Wellington I've looked at nakedbus, stray, and intercity but it's a puzzle I can't solve I can't get the times to flow, eg I can get to Waitomo caves from Auckland by 10am go on the cave tour for 4 hours take nakedbus to Hobbiton only to miss that tour because it closes at 4-m and i'll arrive at 8:40pm. What's the best way to get to each of my destinations?
