American college student from northern California, I would like to know in /trv/'s opinion what is the best place in the United Kingdom to do a semester abroad or a year abroad? I'm mostly looking for somewhere with a thriving social scene.

New Japan General since the old one is past the bump limit: As always, feel free to ask about: >Travelling to Japan >Living in Japan >Teaching in Japan >Getting a Japanese girlfriend >Joining the Yakuza Also info on prostitution http://rockitreports.com/category/sex-in-tokyo/ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Some of us are planning on meeting up in Tokyo during the summer, check the link for more information. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KowCskdmHrCf0pJaYyeuJJZGeIX4Oa6GuPrENwnxT_M/edit#gid=0

/trv/, first time poster, I am 24 and I've only ever been to Hawaii and the Bahamas. I was in Mexico briefly, but that really doesn't count. I have about $3k saved up currently, could go up to $5k, and I want to do some international travel. Ideally I'd like to be gone for about 2 weeks, maybe 3 or 4. Maybe. I kind of want to go somewhere fairly exotic and experience a bit of culture shock, so while most of Europe sounds nice, it's not quite what I want and it's a little expensive. A relaxed, good food, party and drink oriented scene sounds appealing more than sight seeing type stuff. Right now I'm really leaning towards Spain or Thailand. I've had friends who have been to both countries and they both said it was cheap (particularly Thailand) and very enjoyable/fun atmosphere like what I want. Thoughts or suggestions? Will post SFW eye candy in the mean time.

So, I would like to see the Northern lights before I die. I also like visiting places others don't( don't visit rather than don't like) and wonder, if I visit the Faeroe islands in November/December am I likely to see the Northern Lights? I really don't give a shit about anything else, cost, tourist attractions, bitching family...etc. Can I see the Northern Lights on the Faeroe isles in November?

Do you think places like Salar de Uyuni, Easter Island, Socotra, and other 'unique' out-of-the-way places are worth going to or just gimmicky? Its not very detailed or list accurate to the "out-of-the-way" term, but some examples might be Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia Socotra Easter Island Cappadocia or Myra, Turkey Petra, Jordan Hobbit Village, New Zealand Dracula’s Castle Angkor Wat Stonehenge Machu Pichu I'm also making this thread just to hear more unusual/unique places, since I heard about Salar de Uyuni from a friend for the first time.

Russia visa

How do I get into Russia as an American?? There's so many different sites for the application form at different prices requiring different paperwork. Anyone have one they can recommend? Or am I supposed to find a local place? I'm also not currently in America, but in Israel with a work visa, does this affect my ability to get in? I plan to visit Moscow and Saint Petersburg, then Sevastopol in Crimea. People would be hosting me, so from what I've read I would be applying for a private visa.

Hey /trv/ I'm thinking of moving out of Arkansas in July-ish. Right now my roommates want to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma, due to the fact there is a good veterinary tech degree options for one of them, the others boyfriend lives there and the cost of living and general city are a good, safe, low crime stepping stone from getting out of Arkansas. I'm not too set on Tulsa because it's still the south and I'm not up rooting my life for someone else's boyfriend and fuck tornadoes/earthquakes. So, I'm looking for cities that would be about the same cost of living and a well fitting city for 20 year olds (decent entertainment, good city life etc) with the same general requirements as above. Also I'd prefer it not being too far from Arkansas since family is here. Just want to cover all my bases before I settle on Tulsa. Appreciate any advice of where I should look at.

Never travelled, want to visit the UK

AmsterdamFag here Never travelled alone, only to one other country with my parents. So i want to start travelling more and visit countries. I want to start with the UK and most likely going to London or Manchester or maybe even both. My friends might or might not come. So i actually expect to go alone I'm probably going with Easyjet (€60-95) I've been lurking here for a longtime, and almost everyone is advicing a hostel if you're going solo, since hotels can be boring alone. So i will do that. I got a creditcard, in case of emergency to use. I plan to do a lot of walking around and sightseeing (i love walking) and maybe just get lost somewhere and find my place back. I don't really like Museums, but i might try one if the subject sounds interesting. Visit a pub and/or party to do some drinking Fuck a chav girl (i heared they are hard to find in London, but easy in Manchester). >Best place to find them? Visit a casino (i'm not allowed to gamble in my own country) and throw away 50 pounds. Walk more Any tips/info regarding places/things to do when i visit the UK? Or anything in general.

I'm looking for one specific Chinese copy of Gopro. (SJCAM5000) >Seeing subcultures I'm not interested in: >Shopping at high end boutiques >Eating at fancy restaurants (No money) >Doing sightseeing (I've done it before) Do you have any suggestions?

Traveling to North Korea

I plan on going to North Korea next summer via Koryo Tours and I was wondering if any other anons have been there or have been interested. A lot of foreigners took part in the Pyongyang Marathon and a cable worker from Wyoming won it all so I'm not really worried about being a foreigner there. I have dual citizenship, but only an American passport. Should I use my Mexican passport? Of course I'm going to keep my mouth shut, respect their culture and never do anything without asking my guide but I just want to get some other opinions and thoughts.
