New Japan General since the old one is past the bump limit: As always, feel free to ask about: >Travelling to Japan >Living in Japan >Teaching in Japan >Getting a Japanese girlfriend >Joining the Yakuza Also info on prostitution http://rockitreports.com/category/sex-in-tokyo/ Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel. Some of us are planning on meeting up in Tokyo during the summer, check the link for more information. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KowCskdmHrCf0pJaYyeuJJZGeIX4Oa6GuPrENwnxT_M/edit#gid=0

Going there this August just a little over a week. Does anyone know which airport is the best to fly into? what's the best way to get around, we were thinking of flying into Madrid and making our way around the coast lines. Do you do this by train or car rental? Is AirBnB a good option in this area? how expensive is spain/portugal in general? thanks

Wife and I are moving to Denver this summer for my Job and traveling there this weekend to get a feel for the city and the area. What are some fun none touristy things that the locals say are must do. When I try to google stuff I just find the same normal stuff. Also we do want to check out the Weed scene too while we are there. Any class our nice smoke bars or clubs? Thanks!

Decadence in Berlin?

1 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So I want to go to Berlin this summer and have some questions. - I love techno, deep house and that kind of "rave" music and I hear Berlin is great for it. Basically I'm looking for some place in a run-down warehouse somewhere to party. Any suggestions? - I want to see something extremely decadent. While these kind of techno places tend to be rather civil (excluding of course people who took too much amphetamine etc), I also want to see a club or something where coke is on the tables, people are fucking straight up at the dance floor, there's a guy passed out in the alley outside with a needle sticking out of his arm and shit like that. Any suggestions? How long should I stay? What are some good hostels where I can stay and meet likeminded people? What is the drug situation like, is it easy to get your hands on speed/mdma?

The local ferry company has put forth a campaign to name the newest boat that they use. We should 4chan it up. http://www.bcferries.com/about/intermediatevessel-naming-contest.html?utm_campaign=ICFnamingcontest&utm_medium=web&utm_source=bcfhome

Bought an Interrail Pass for traveling through Europe in Two Weeks. Going from Paris>Amsterdam>Berlin>Prague>Krakow. Does this pass cover all trains? Some trains need to be reserved, do I need to pay more money to reserve a spot on these trains or will the pass work?

Planning a trip to USA

Next summer (2016) I'm planning to go to the good old US of A. Being a Brit I've only ever been to America twice, both times I went to Florida (which was great, but I'd love to see more of the country). I'm interested in: Science Politics/history Nightlife General American culture I want to go all over the country. If this gets any interest, I'll start planning budget etc. Sell me your town/state/area - what is there to see and do around you? Thanks!

Greets /trv/lers: My Grandfather is turning 75 this year in Dec, Grandmoher wants to take extended family "somewhere warm and tropical" to celebrate. (We hit Yellowstone last December, which was great but it is now time to do something NOT cold.) Due to time and how-far-some-of-them-want-to-ride-in-a-plane restrictions, we're sort of limited to the Caribbean or Central America (Northern South America is fine too) With our numbers, there are a dozen of us, it will need to be a rent-a-villa or resort, but I am trying to steer it towards at least being someplace where there are some things worth seeing and doing in addition to enjoying the beach and amenities on a resort. Ages range from 75 to 5, both older and younger folks are in good shape walking wise and all, but not looking for anything that requires strenuous activity. Optional strenuous activity is OK. We've done a "mass descenision" on Jamaica, and some years back did a resort that was not very good on the Mayan Riviera -- I'd like to throw someplace new into the mix. A cruise is always possible but we've done that and I'd as soon do something else. Anybody have any suggestions, based on all that? Anybody done one of those "Windjammer" tall-ship cruises?

Beaches in the USA

Does anyone have suggestions for a beach vacation? Hawaii is too expensive and far. We are located near Chicago, so driving is an option. Party of 3 with a 5 yo. We want a simple nice relaxing vacation of 5 days or so. A friend mentioned Alabama, but I am a little hesitant.

Stupidest thing you've done while traveling? >in Doha >too hot to go for a run during the day >run 7 miles at 11 PM through desertous outskirts of the city >twist ankle on several unseen rocks >come a few feet away from having face ripped off by guard dogs on what must've been private property (could not see them from far away bc night) <----- me

Salutations anons, European here. At the end of June I'm going to visit Amsterdam for a weekend thanks to very low flight prices. I have few questions about that: >What should I visit there? I will have kinda small budget for tickets. >Tell me about bicycles there? A couple of years ago some guys told me that it's common to find "abandoned" one and "lend it" and then give it back to the same place. It's a hope for me for free traveling through the city. it sounds unbelievable for me. >I need any info about these Coffe Shops. What's worth buying here, what's overrated etc. if I wanna get high. >Same as above but what if I wanted to buy some weed on the street? >Red Lantern District - tell me anything u know about that. I'll probably don't get laid there cuz it could cost a plenty of money (I am student so I don't work atm) but u can give some protips. Hope that my English wasn't that bad.

Transferring money to Venezuela

My girlfriend is from Venezuela (we both live in Norway now), and I'm wondering how best to transfer money there. I'm going there one day, but I don't want to bring a huge amount of cash. Using the official exchange rate is of course unacceptable. So how could I transfer real value into Venezuela? Seems like all money transfer bureaux use an extortionate exchange rate (as opposed to the real one @ www.dolartoday.com). Anyone have an idea?

USA Road Trip Thread I take a month long roadtrip every year, and have been doing it for a few years now. I've been to most of the popular states, cities, national parks, and destinations. I'd like to share what I've learned. I feel I have useful advice to give on how to save money, meet people, and make the most of your time. Also, I'd love to talk with other travelers on favorite places in America and what places you'd recommend I check out. Image related.

Best Place to Live in Europe

Which following European country should I consider living in? a) Switzerland b) Ukraine c) Turkey d) Germany I would like to live in a modern but conservative nation in Europe. It would be nice if the country was cheap and the amount of pay is good for an English teacher. Which would be a good place for me?
