Where to go

Hay Guyz Usually I always have ideas, but next trip is a bit difficult. First trip with current gf, both students, so has to be cheap and somewhere we both don't know. We live in Paris. Places visited by both or one of us >Barcelona >France >Almost all of Italy >Lausanne >Amsterdam >Almost all of UK >Istanbul >Casablanca >South Africa >Peru >Québec >NY By cheap, I imagine less than 2*1000€ (counting airticket or whatever, hotel, and eventually car rental). We both like places off the grid. Not looking for two weeks (although would be great), one week would suit at least.

Any interesting stories involving not going through the proper channels for currency exchange?

Kuwait

I just applied for a job as a security contractor in Kuwait. I'm just curious how life is in that country and what stuff there is to do for a white single 24 year old American. Thanks /trv/

I will travel from Belgium to St. Petersburg on foot, in about a month. Anyone done anything similiar, and cares to share some tips? especially interested in lodging and budget

Airfare Sites: Are they safe?

9 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
I looked in the /trv/ sticky and saw these websites listed under airfare (see pic). Can you really trust those, though? And why do airlines hide the prices from us? Why must we need other websites to find the really lowest priced thing? On another note: Scenario. Let's say I'm trying to book a one-way flight from Philadelpha International (PHL) to Phoenix International (PHX). Those airports are in Pennsylvania and Arizona, respectively. So I use kayak dot com. This information comes up http://i.imgur.com/w4cAPYL.png (pic). The cheapest flight is BELOW three-hundred dollars. Once when I tried to book a flight from a major airline website, the price was $360 for a one way ticket from PHL to PHX. So what gives, why would they charge so much?

How impossible would this be to do on foot? (Starting in China, finishing in Bhutan) Also how enjoyable would it be? I really really like walking and the countryside.

What is there to do for a business traveler in San Diego? I'm likely to spend one week (Mon-Fri) there in June. Is the traffic horrible? pic related, California in 2019

Cuba

Anyone have any experience of backpacking in Cuba? I was considering spending two or three weeks during summer there, however, I was wondering a few things. How hard would it be to get around the island (with no knowledge of Spanish)? How much would you recommend to budget, and how hard would it be to meet new people (given that, as far as I'm aware, there's not much of a hostel scene)?

I'll be traveling to Philadelphia for just a day in order to pick up a friend. He lives about 40 minutes from the airport. I'm thinking that my only option would be to rent a car at the airport and go that route - but to just rent a car for a few hours will set me back $150, with a $200 deposit on top of that. That's more than the goddamn plane tickets. Are there any better ideas?

Dear /trv/ I don't know if this kind of thread goes here, but I'll just shoot it. My future wife and I had decided to move out of our country and leave it all behind (we're mexicans), I myself don't have any preference over the country we land on, we'r soon to graduate from college and we're really good in our area of work, so we should be able to manage ourselves. On the other hand, she seems pretty fixated on the idea of living in Ireland, so right now we're rolling on that idea. So I need to know EVERYTHING about Ireland, good places to live in, expenses average, requirements to live there, any bit of info that can be helpful, I'd be really grateful, I'm entering a new phase in my life, and with a project this big, I want to be prepared for anything.

Vegas & the MGM

I'm gonna be staying at the MGM in the Skyline Terrace suite for a couple days in 2 weeks. Has anyone here stayed in that room? Is it as sexy as it looks? Do front desk people still give you weed hookups, and I should be fine smoking it on the terrace right?

Margaret River

I'm going to Perth and the Margaret River area this summer. I'm gonna be visiting vineyards, Perth itself with my parents and sister. Any tips? Anything I should be aware of?

WWOOF THREAD Hi anons, Experiences WWOOFING? how good is it as an option to improve one's skills with a language? can one spend abroad one or two months not paying a thing through it? I'm learning German and I don't want to spend all my savings living in Berlin, so I have come with this (probably) weird idea of Wwoofing as a way of learning a language as fast/cheap as possible, how fucked am I?

Stuck in Kuala Lumpur for a 2 day transit soon. Is it as expensive as Singapore and where do I go for cheap bomb ass food and alcohol? Also, best bars and clubs and KL general (Not shilling for Malaysian Airlines, but to give y'all a friendly /trv/ hint, they're in administratorship and restructuring and transferring assets for a same-but-completely-different company on Sep 1, 2015 and are offering cheap flights From Europe/Australia to Asia vice versa so scope them out before they go bankrupt/stop offering cheap flights). Anyway, KL thread

Venice, Italy Anyone here have any personal experiences, recommendations, etc. to offer? I am going three nights at the height of the tourist season - the big and popular destinations within the city proper of course I will make an effort to go to - I will also try to find those things you wouldn't be able to find on any run-of-the-mill travel guide. Anything would be appreciated

Kenya and the surroundings

I'll be visiting Kenya (Nairobi) in July-August as part of a internship. After my internship is over I'd maybe like to do some travelling. Are there any of the neighbouring countries (inb4 Somalia) that is worth a visit? And is it safe to travel overland?
