I'm going to hitch-hike from Italy to Armenia and back this weekend. This trip will last 40 to 45 days. I'm a solo 22 y old dreadlocked long beard Italian dude. The plan: > Stay in Venice a couple of days > Hitch to Istanbul, currently undecided whether to take the shortest route (Ljubljana-Zagreb-Belgrade-Nis-Sofia-Plovdiv, Slovenia-Croatia-Serbia-Bulgaria) or the trafficked one (Adriatic coast till Albania then Macedonia, from there Bulgaria or Greece) > Hitch along the Black sea to Georgia. Go to Tbilisi, Batumi, Svaneti area. If time allows it visa to Azerbaijan and go see Baku, Sheki and Ganja. > Hitch to Armenia and stay there to see what's around. So, any advice on what to do, see, eat in Armenia, Georgia, Turkey? Info about Greece, Bulgaria and the Balkans area is of course also accepted. Lastly, if there are any festivals or open air concerts in any of these countries in August let me know! Finding information music-wise about this are always seems to be a bit tricky...

My family and I are heading out on a four-day vacation to Cancun next week. What should I expect when I get there? Any places to go, sights to see, restaurants to eat at, tourist spots to visit? Anything other than just going to the beach and taking a dip at my hotel's swimming pool? Speaking of hotels, pic related: it's the hotel in staying at, the Oasis Palm Resort. Anything I should know about that, too?

Is it a bad idea for me to hitchhike through Armenia alone if I don't speak a word of Armenian or Russian?

I'm about to move to China, Hunan province because my Chinese gf's Japanese visa is going to run out. She got me a "job" at her families company so and I don't have to work or pay for anything. As such I'm afraid I'll get incredibly bored. So I thought why not go to Tibet, that sounds cool and I liked that Brad Pitt movie. But it seems complicated as fuck. Can I just go native and take the train or do I need to do all this paper work stuff? Getting a Chinese work visa was already enough paperwork. Pic's my qt6.28 chinky gf

Life in Alaska

Are there any people here that regularly visit Alaska or live there? If so, could you share some experiences? I'm interested to move out of Europe into Alaska, I've done some research and it looks like a really nice place to live provided I get electricity (internet) and warm water and all the basic 'premium' needs. How cold are the summers/winters?

My wife is hellbent on going to Greece before in her words "it gets too crap". We have a ten year old kid. I'm not a resort person, neither is she, and I'm interested in sailing; I saw this as a good opportunity to go island hopping or something along those lines. Anybody got a lead to anything like that?

Hey, /trv/. I'm not a regular denizen of this board, but I feel like you all might have good advice for me. I may be traveling abroad on a scholarship soon and I'd like to know a little bit about Brazil. I don't speak Portuguese, but I do speak Spanish. tl;dr What should I need to know for an extended (9 month) trip to Brazil?

How do you bring money into another country? I'm planning an extended stay (90+ days) in Serbia for business reasons and since I've never traveled to another country before I'm not quite sure how to get my money from my U.S. bank account to me in Belgrade. Is it so easy that a Belgrade ATM will just accept my visa debit card? Could I, as a foreigner, open up a bank account in Serbia and quickly just transfer money to it?

Arabic adventure

Hey guys, newbie traveler here. I'm going to be going to germany to visit my sister in a few months, and this will be the first time I leave the states. So anyways, where I want to go next is some place in the middle east or something, I want to have a cool Indiana Jones type adventure. I want to go to a cool lounge and smoke hookah with British expatriates, go to cool bazaars, see neat ruins and stuff. Maybe even meet a qt girl or something. Any idea of where I should go that isn't ridiculously dangerous and full of Isis? I don't really want to go somewhere that's really modern like dubai but I also don't want to go to some random mountain goat village in afghanistan. Somewhere I can get a drink would be nice too, i really love alcohol, I don't intend to get pissface drunk and make an ass of myself but It'd be great to chill on some floor pillows and drink something refreshing while watching the locals go about their daily business. What have been your experiences?
