Elo /trv I'm planning on cycling from the tip of Scotland right down to the cliffs of Dover this coming summer, with a good friend of mine. I want to get a feel for this land that me and my ancestors have called home before I reach out and touch the world. I'll be spending two months on this journey so I have every chance to see what I want and not rush myself. So my question to you is what little facts and tips about this land are oft forgotten? Any little villages that haven't been touched by time? Any must see's and do's?

Why do some people give up their jobs to go backpacking?

7 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
If you give up a job, there is no guarantee that you will get it back. Today's job market is saturated with degree holders and the company will just hire someone else. It's also expensive to go backpacking like this. Chances are these backpackers have to work in shitty jobs in coffee shops and retail. Surely their jobs back home are better? At least they can live with their parents/friends to cut expenses. Living on minimum wage is tough and living in a hostel full of strangers is also dangerous. And what are they going to do when they return to their home country ?When a backpacker come back, a manager may frown upon how he gave up his job to go travelling as it's pretty unrealistic. What follows then? More backpacking? Working forever in retail? How can such people save enough money for retirement?

I am Japanese.

Montreal for New Years

1 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So about 10 friends (early to mid twenties) and I want to go to Montreal for New Years. Where should we go to celebrate? We've never been, but I've heard Saint Catherine's street is a good area. Since we'll probably need to get tickets to any popular bar/club for new years, we want to nail down where we're going specifically asap. Any tips on where we should go?

Which countries are not safe [for pussy white niggas like u]? Please add to this because I want to go to Latin American countries and Africa but I'm too lazy to research each individual nation's entire history and societal structure. I just want to avoid getting killed by stinky ISIS faggots, Mexican cartels, and whatever other African fucks besides ISIS East are out there.

After I graduate with my business degree I can't even travel because I almost feel like I need to get experience for my job with my degree... Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Information Systems. I feel that if I were to travel and work shit jobs for a year or two I would severely be putting myself behind and I will have learned nothing in a job setting that I would become undesirable as an employee. Is this a rational thought to have or am I blowing it all out of proportions. My life is at such a confused crossroad. I can't comprehend how people can disappear for 1-2 years, I wish that was me.

weekend trip

I'm looking to travel for a weekend in January by myself for shits and giggles within the US flying from Los Angeles. What's a good US city for a single guy to go out by himself and have fun? Music, food, sight seeing touristy shit, nature, museums, good looking women, etc. all welcome. I'll probably be leaving on a Thursday afternoon and returning before Monday morning for work, but flexible. Suggestions?

I have rarely seen this type of threads in /trv/. Which debit/credit card you use when you travel? any bad experiences? Which bank do you think is the best when you travel to other countries? I used to have a Wells Fargo debit card but im looking for a better bank now, im between HSBC and BBVA as they have a lot of atms everywhere (at least where I have been).

Thoughts and experiences with AirBnB? I'm going to be taking a road trip in a little bit and it seemed like a great way to meet locals and room for cheap. Pro/con: stories; critique; all accepted.

Considering visiting Ukraine with the following itinerary: Lviv -> Chernivtsi -> Kiev -> Odessa. Is there any other towns or cities I should see on the way? Will I be able to get around with a Russian phrase book and waving my hands?

Hey guys, I need some tip, I have never traveles outside of my home state of Maine, and I will be going to Mexico, the country in a few weeks. I also will be going on my first airplane ride.
