So I may have landed a job in the Netherlands. In light of that, what should I know about the country, people, culture, night life? Also, I am American.

Can /trv/ recommend me some fun stuff to do in Budapest? I just watched Rick Steves' episode on Budapest and it looks like a beautiful city with amazing buildings, but I was really only interested in two things; the House of Terror museum and statue park. What else is there to do in Budapest? I'm 24 years old and I will travel there with my girlfriend during July. She is not interested in nightlife stuff such as clubbing or drinking at all. Maybe we should go somewhere else?

I have no money to even pay rent for next month, and am too socially dysfunctional to even get help. I couldn't last at my first job after getting my PhD. But... I like to think about being able to travel, so I made my itinerary for the month of February in New Zealand (leaving from the UK). I just picked places that sounded cool and more interesting remoter locations. Pics related. 1/6

USA

I'm looking to go on exchange for a semester in America this year, starting in August through to December. Currently living and studying in Melbourne and would do the exchange through the university. What cities would you guys recommend as the best places to live for about 6 months to get the best experience? I'm mostly looking to meet some people and have a good time experiencing the culture, not so fussed about the quality of universities.

A friend and I from southwest Florida are trying to take a weekend trip and snowboard a little bit. Can't really take too much time out of work and we don't want to miss the snowy season. The trip will begin early on Friday, February 5th. Is anybody in here from the Southeastern US and having a good amount of snow? Trying to stay within a 12 to 14 hour drive of Charlotte County in Florida.

American sim cards help

Hey guys. I'm from the UK and travelling to Dallas Texas in April. I'm going to need an America SIM card for a week that has quite a bit of mobile data I can use. I need some help how I can find this and best one. As a Brit I can see me asking for a SIM card with mobile data and my how I might explain poorly what I need. Can someone tell me where I can easily obtain a SIM card with loads , at a reasonable price, no contract or anything, which is the best network(for signal and price, 4G ready preferably) and what I need to ask for so an America ear knows exactly what I need? Thanks

Anyone been to Nepal lately? Was starting to plan a trip there but read about April 2015 earthquake fucking up a lot of Kathmandu, Patan, Bhakrapur, etc. Are sites totally devastated, the country still in rebuilding process? Should I wait?

How difficult is it to travel to Ahaggar in Algeria? I imagine it would be several days by bus or whatever from the populated areas of Algeria, but is it even safe?

Planning a trip to thailand

Im just in talks of doing this at the moment. I know me and a friend want to go to bangkok, pattaya and phuket. We want to do 4 weeks over there. Where do you think we should start ? Where else do you think we should visit ? I was thinking ofdoing like 4 weeks and 4 days spend a week in each city with an extra day for traveling and getting settled in. How much will we need ? I was thinking of taking £2500 which = 128477.90 Thai Baht(fuck thats a lot in there money) Whats the average price of a room over there ? A couple of people a few years ago told me they where getting rooms for like £3-5 a room a night (not a hostel) but when Ive looked on a few sites a lot of rooms have come up as £20-50 a night. Whats average ? Same with the girls haha.I got told you could pay £20 for nearly all night and on a few different sites it says it costs about £40 an hour.. Anything special I should go and see ? I dont like the the thought of vaccines after finding out whats in them and what they can do to people. But do you think they would be worth taking when visiting this country ? Any general tips for planning this ? Oh and where would you say is the best place to go for the full moon party?

What are the best/most affordable places to live in Japan? I currently live in California but I'm considering moving to Japan at some point, maybe getting a small apartment or trying to live with someone from online or whatever. I'm a 20/yo transgirl btw. Are transgender people accepted there?

Hey friends, let me introduce myself a little bit first. I'm a 22 year old Belgian student. I've been to some decent amount of different countries. (A hike with friends in scandinavia was by far the best) I am now at a point in life where I realise how important it is to start saving money as soon as you can. A friend of mine is currently staying in vancouver, Canada. I have the chance to go to him. So I only have to pay for the flight and ofcourse the money I spent there. Flight is around 700 and I'll think I will spend another 300 there in the 14 days I would be going. Now, is it worth it? Is Vancouver worth, a decent share of my savings? Also what month is best to travel to vancouver. February or april and why? General suggestions/stories/tips more then welcome Thanks in advance

Aussie Travel

Hey /trv/ I don't come here too often but I could use your advice on a trip I'm taking to Australia this summer. I know I'll probably be in these cities: Cairns Sydney Brisbane Melbourne Adelaide Alice Springs Darwin Problem is I don't have much locked in right now beyond a few parks and the obligatory trip to the Sydney Opera House. Anyway, what do you guys recommend as some cannot miss stuff on this end of Australia? I'd especially like to hear some stuff that the average tourist might miss in these places.

Hey so Basically my friends and I, three of us in total, want to go traveling around. But the thing is, we dont know where to go, and none of us have money. So what we are looking for is a site that just has a listing of the cheapest flights out of SMF airport. We are okay with going basically anywhere. Does anyone know of a site that has something like that? If so that would be wonderful.

I have a few specific questions regarding Switzerland that I was hoping /trv/ might be able to answer: 1. Is it possible to camp in/around Interlaken? How much would this cost? Can you do that for free? 2. How much should a person budget for Interlaken/the surrounding area (such as Lauterbrunnen or Gimmelwald) if he/she only wants to go hiking in the mountains for a few days? 3. How essential is it for travelers in the Bernese Oberland to visit the Jungfraujoch? Would it be a huge mistake to miss it?
