Has anyone here ridden Greyhound? I want to take a 24 hour trip on it, but I dunno if I I can sleep on it. I'd need room to do so. Plus, I can only sleep on my back, so I'd need to be able to turn over on my seat. So, uh, is it possible to sleep on a Greyhound bus?

Luggage, /trv/ Hard-shell or soft? Favourite brands, features you've learned to love/hate? Any recommendations? AKA I need to get new luggage for the first time in years and have no idea what to buy. Mostly fairly short city-based work trips with the occasional, longer jaunt in random places where bulky suitcases may or may not be practical.

FUGGGG /trv/ it has happened to me ;_; I picked up bedbugs I haven't seen them again ever since the first bites showed up, but there is no way my luggage isn't infested, right? I'm going home in 2 weeks and I cannot find any decent laundromats fml Comfort me guys, this is seriously giving me the creeps and I dont wanna take those fuckers home with me/infect other people ;_;

I'm sure this is a common question around here, but how do you guys come up with the money to be able to travel? Being a wageslave and using your one week vacation out of the year sounds like hell to me. Being self-employed, however, would be ideal, as you'd be able to set your own time and you could have multiple sources of income. I just want freedom; I'm sure I'm not alone.

Want to go abroad for 4-6 months. Where to go and what to do?

Dear /trv/, Last week I broke up with my GF and so now my travel plans are paper blank as well. I'll probably graduate from my Master's somewhere in July and while I am sure that I would like to 'go abroad', I have no clue where to go whatsoever! I hope you could give me some ideas. I come from the Netherlands. I would like to use this travel trip to get to know myself better and to do stuff that I have never done before, like yoga, playing guitar and helping people improve their lives (help, development project) and try to write some songs. >Travel experience - Went with parents to Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and a lot of other places. - Went with friends and exGF to places such as France, Italy, U.K. and other places in Europe (festivals, roadtrips and small weekend trips.) - Went to Singapore on my own to study there for a semester and afterwards travelled on my own in Asia for 1,5 month. >Options and suggestions I got from friends and relatives - New Zealand & Australia (with working on the side. However I have no idea where to find temporary job vacancies at farms or shit like that). - South America (lefty side, from Educuador to Chile, for example) - North America or Canada? (however, I am not sure if doing this on my own is a good idea for the U.S.) >Thoughts of my own: - Finally obtain my Dive Master's certificate on the Dutch Antilles, or somewhere else, and travel further. - Just randomly pick a spot from the world globe and just go. - Do a development project through an organization or IDK, help to build waterwells and shit. I want to see as much of the world as possible, including hard to reach places like Antarctica. Nature is always good and I'm sure that around the globe, there will be a lot of other backpackers whom I can connect with. My total savings include 18,000 euros but I'd rather not spend all on it this trip. I know it's pretty generic but I was hoping you could give me some advice or tips anyway /trv/. Thanks in advance!

What is your view on visiting impoverished areas or Slum Tourism?

Please fill out this survey to help me with my research. IT ONLY TAKES 2 MINUTES. I am looking to find out what motivates people to visit slum areas. It is a very controversial topic and I am going to use this info to further discuss the marketing strategies used by slum tour operators. Here's the link: https://surveyplanet.com/56e02dd3493d480c1bf1153b Thank you!

Hey /trv/!, I'm going to Europe this summer and after visiting family in Trieste, Italy, I would like to go to Budapest. Raileurope and other websites say that it would take about 10 to 12 hours with 2 or 3 train changes. Is this how it is, or is it just a mistake from these websites? I really need to know what's the fastest way, thanks!

Will going to Assisi be worth it? I'm gonna be in Siena for a month over the summer through a study abroad program and I think going to Assisi for an afternoon would be a pretty cool thing to do but the train ride is over four hours and I'm not allowed to rent a car, and I assume a taxi would be too expensive. There are already overnight trips to Florence and Bologna through the program, as well as a couple other daytime trips, and I plan on using a long weekend to visit Rome.

Chicago is my favorite city> I grew up there, lived my childhood on the south side (white), and have a lot of love for the place. It's been about a decade, a bit less since I lived there, but I'd like to move back sometime. I've lived on the near south side for a short while, but spent more time in Harvey and South Holland. What would be a good, somewhat affordable place to live? I've been digging Lakeview, would love to hear some advice from locals or people who live in the area. Also, post Chicago stuff, I'm such a weeaboo for the city.

Hello /trv/ I'm here with the classic "I'm an American who dreams of moving to Europe" thread. I know it will be very hard, but I know for a fact it is possible. I am 18 years old and a senior in highschool. What decisions can I make that will lead me to living a life abroad?

I'm from Adelaide, going to Bali alone for 3 or 4 nights on the way to India. First time ever overseas. How hard/easy is it to meet new people? Do I basically just have to walk up to a bunch of people in a bar and yell "SHOTS!"? Any tips on somewhere good to stay? I'll be in Denpasar. I'm new to all of it and kinda nervous. Any advice would be mucho appreciated.
