due to an advice from a friend, I come here for help.
I leave for Syria in a week (funny there's a thread on here about anon wanting to go to a shithole, tag along friend!).
I already packed my external batteries, my chargers, my universal outlet plugs.
What I'm looking for here is things that I need to get and pack with me that wouldn't cross my mind. I've been planning this trip for a couple of weeks but to be honest I was only serious about it in the last couple of days.
I just want to let everyone know that I am able to get into Syria legally and have permission to enter the country LEGALLY.
This thread could also be used to travel to very bad places or places that really lack electricity 12+ hours of the day.
Please help, and thanks in advance.
TL:DR What to pack for Syria

/dbt/ here. I'm interested in planning a vacation next year. However, like someone on that thread, I want to do it on two wheels. Has anyone else done this before? How expensive will it be? What would be the best way of doing it?
Can I ship my bike across an ocean and go for a trip? Would that be cheaper than renting when I get to a country?
I have no idea where I want to go. I've seen video footage of some excellent motorcycling roads in Europe. Particularly through the Alps and Pyrenees. I've heard that Turkey has great motorcycling roads. But the country's not in the best of shape. Various Asian countries have excellent roads as well. Japan, Taiwan and Korea come to mind.
Cheap accommodations, cheap food with the occasional restaurant, and some biking sounds like an excellent vacation to me. Does anyone have any tips?

My girlfriend and I are doing 19 nights in Europe this May. Most of the travel will be by plane but some by train/bus. Is 3 nights in a city the right amount of time for a trip? 2 feels like we would be leaving as soon as we got there, and 4 feels too long.
I would like to see Dublin, London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Rome, Florence, Venice, some of the italian cost (Pic related) and Barcelona. Could we reasonably do each of these cities in two days WITH travel time?
Which Southern US city would you suggest?

Hey /trv/, I'm looking at the possibility of moving to the USA. There are 2 things I can't stand, driving and cold weather. I prefer big cities.
I have not visited the country yet, but I want to go for a few months to see what it'd be like to live there, just don't know where to start. I'm looking for a relatively safe city with good weather all year round that is easy to get around without a car. Does such a place even exist? How are San Diego, San Fransisco, San Jose? Is there anything on the east coast?

Heading to NYC from Kansas in july, 15-18th to be precise. I''ll be flying into La Guardia, hostel is on the upper west side of manhattan, about 1/4th of a mile from central park. I'm just traveling for fun, have a few things I'd like to do, but no real game plan. Money not really an issue, so there's that.
Best way to get from airport to hostel in a timely manner?
Where can I find street vendors, similar to like they have in south east asia?
Are there any dingy hole in the wall bars I should check out?

I'm pissed off right now because of an asshole at the airport
>at airport with mom, going to see my sister in cali
>walking in line to go to security
>guy asks me to stick my hands out
>wipes my hands with small tan wipe
>he looks at a cut on my wrist from a branch
>feels around the cut to apparently "check for anything in it"
>go to the scanner thing that does the full body scan
>lady asks me to step out, making no hand sign which way
>try to leave but she pushes me out the other way
>they calibrate the thing
>she waves for me to come in
>guy yells for me to get out
>walk out again
>he comes to me pissed
>"sir you have to be patient your just being a disrupt to the line"
>say back obviously pissed "hey fuck you she waved me in twice"
>he screams at me
>"get over here were doing a full search"
>he takes me to the side room and pats me down and scans me
>my mother is confused
>guy yells at me again "listen lard ass, don't be a dick to an authority again"
>I'm chubby and 6'3
>say back "well sorry you have to work a shitty job here cause you couldn't do well in school"
>walk away feeling like a God
>now eating Pizza at the food court with my mom, laughing about it
Any other stories you guys have? Pic unrelated, it's my dog Baxter

*Note about the JR Rail Pass*
Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary.
Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options:
>7 day Pass: 29,110¥
>14 day Pass: 46,390¥
>21 day Pass: 59,350¥
Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel.
